Star Trek: Picard

The closing scenes of the crew was a bit cringe. Did everyone forget that Dr Jurati is a cold blooded murderer and when did Seven get intimate with Raffi?
Yeah. So much cringe it is unbelievable. Don't get how some lap this **** up :p

Who said it was anything sexual, 7 has just lost a great chunk of Ex-Borg, plus those still in stasis, plus Hugh, perhaps there was nothing in it but friendly support..?

Sure, but there are plenty of better ways to convey friendship and support. I wouldn't have gone with staring into each others eyes and finger foreplay :D

Sssshhhhh don't point that out you just get called toxic or a so called fan.

That's the first defence in. The SWJ hand book!!!!!

BTW why are they finding it so hard to write strong females? None of them are likeable!!!!!

They even have to neuter the males to make them look strong!!!!

It wouldn't take this lot to meet Drummer , Noami or Roberta at a space port. These 3 hold their own with very strong male characters!!!

I think the main thought I have had throughout this series is, where is Beverly Crusher? Picard hasn't even so much as mentioned her. I just sort of assumed they would get it on eventually and marry or something but he hasn't even so much as dropped her name. Will/Deanna didn't mention her either.

Yeah. Very poorly written. All main characters names should have come up and briefly mention what they were up to etc. Maybe even a quick chat on the comms or something.

Its just a really bad show, a really bad show.

7of9 is perfect for a strong female lead but they blew that as well.

No hope series 2 at all, which will probably be the "destructors coming"

The majority were mentioned at one point or another. Why is it important that every single character, whom he worked with 20 years previously be name checked just for the sake of it? As fans of the original or course we'd like to see/hear them. But if it's not relevant then it's probably best to hold those cards up their sleeves for a bit.

It's this sort of nitpicking that seems, to me at least, to just cause an a huge amount of negative noise on the internet so that if someone were to search for it they'd think they were about to watch the worst tv show in the last 20 years rather than an o.k. one with some good bits and some not so good, but could get better now it's up and running.

This nitpicking is only occurring because the show has been poor mate. Had it been good then we would not be going on about such things and be busy praising it no? Kind of obvious I would I though to be honest.

I don't think I am nitpicking in the slightest, unlike many I actually reasonably enjoyed the show and don't have many gripes toward it. The Beverly Crusher issue though is a thought that went through my head during the show repeatedly. Why should it be important to mention her? Well from strictly a character story point of view she was FAR more to Picard that just someone whom he worked with for 20 years. He was significantly emotionally bonded with her and it was clear that they had a relationship going on. No it isn't relevant from the standpoint of this particular storyline but it is relevant from a character point of view and you would think that it would be entirely logical that if he was to mention anyone from the past it would be someone with whom he had the sort of relationship he did with Beverly Crusher. Call it nitpicking if you want, be defensive about it if you want but I really don't think that my one question is indicative of me harping on about negativity regarding the show in this thread or in any way evidence of me nitpicking, but each to their own I suppose.

So why did the synthetics attack the martian shipyards, as they were building the "rescue fleet" which in turn led to banning them? As it was never explained in the show right?

I must have missed it... Or was it the "baddy romulans" that hacked the synths, in the process killing their own rescue fleet.

Does that ? is that how it was meant to go down.?

Sorry, I don't mean you in particular. Just mean this is a fairly minor thing that will probably be addressed in next series. A lot could have happened in those 20 years.
Something small like this being an example of 'poor writing' as TNA said is, imo, a bit picky. That combined with lots of other fairly minor stuff just seems to build an image the show is much worse than it really is.

Don't get me wrong, I think they needed to polish the scripts/ideas a bit more. They had the kernel of a very interesting story in the first few episodes that went in slightly disappointing directions. Some of the writing was brilliant, some not so.
I thought the idea of this prophecy being so voodoo that even the Borg would drop a cube the moment it assimilated something with knowledge of it very interesting. Or that they were linked to the Romulans and an attempt to assimilate them would lead to shut down - but neither of those potential plots transpired the way I'd hoped. Borg ended up not being very important at all.
I think they can hopefully learn from this run - especially now production will be on hold and they can really get those scripts/plots bullet proof for next season.

Yup, they hijacked the synths to get them banned in the federation what with their use/development being more widespread. They didn't seem to be particularly advanced or self aware like Data but maybe they just wanted to put a stop to it and needed something major to do it.

Considering how old Picard is/was maybe she is dead?

Anyway Marc Bernardin (Did a load of writing on Treadstone) has just joined the writing team. He is a big Trek fan so hopefully he should steer it in a good direction.

It ain't picky. It would be picky if the show was awesome or even just good. But it ain't. Only reason I force myself to watch is because of Picard/nostalgia. I really hope they get a new show runner for next season and things improve.
