Star Trek

Then after you finished all of ST... move on to BSG and get amazed about what you were missing out on! :)

You could also include, Babylon 5, Andromeda, Farscape, SG and so on if you wanted some more stuff. :)

I've so far watched all of

Star Trek Enterprise
Star Trek DS9
Star Trek Voyager

and I'm now watching Babylon 5, I got side tracked with wow for 8 month :)

You forgot TOS and TNG. Or did you?

TOS is classic, and if you like sci-fi it's hard not to enjoy, and TNG is great because of the characters mainly. The episodes can quickly get boring after one or more watches and are slow paced compared to what you've already seen.

i have to agree, babylon 5 is epic, i've been watching it on fx and it's still awesome even now so much so i bought the box set and i have now got my son and one of my mates hooked :D
B5 was awesome although much like ST:TNG the effects don't hold up well 20 years later. Having said that B5 had some of the best story, character development and ongoing arc in television. There was attention to tiny detail - if you see a hand gun on a mantle piece someone is going to get shot. If you watch them in quick succession you spend pretty much everything post season 2 saying "ooooh, that's why he/she/it said/did looked at that/him her it in an earlier episode. Becasue B5 was written to be 5 seasons from the start a lot of stuff that passes you by in the early story comes back with a vengence later giveing you "doh"" monents.

It's a shame that at the begining of filming for season 4 it looke dlike they weren't going to get renewed for the final season 5 so a lot of the story lines that started right at the begining were tied up in a rush over the second half of S4. Except they did then get S5 so the last few suprises had to be strung out till the end of S5 and a bunch of new stuff written.

Still a classic series with plenty of scenes that compete with the best on any television.

As an aside I wonder if there's anything planned to pick the Star Trek TV franchise up? It's pretty much the first time in 15 years theres not been a new trek series on the screen or in development.

I've just watched the final episode of Babylon 5 and now I'm all sad :(

I didn't watch the B5 movies despite having them.

I have TNG but not TOS

I'm now going to watch firefly :)

Why is this thread in here and not the Music, Box Office, TV & Books forum ?

I'd probably watch them in internal chronological order (bar Enterprise which I'd either leave till last or not bother with!) The newest movie should be left till last since it's a reboot.

DS9's is a two-era show. The relatively dull BSB* era, and ASB* when almost on a dime it became the most serious business and grown up Trek series. I will also never forgive Voyager for turning the Borg into jobbers. :(

It's basically a term stolen from the 'wrestling' community that applies to any character/adversary that basically turns up to lose. I didn't mind the initial Species 8472 arc but after that the Borg became cheap bad guys that were always easily out-thought and beaten by ONE ship.

Just about to stick all of Star Trek on my Lovefilm list :D.

  1. ST Enterprise
  2. Star Trek 11 (movie)
  3. ST TOS
  4. The Motion Picture
  5. The Wrath of Khan
  6. The Search for Spock

  8. The Final Frontier
  9. The Undiscovered Country
  10. ST TNG
  11. ST DS9
  12. Generations
  13. First Contact
  14. ST Voyager
  15. Insurrection
  16. Nemesis

Is this the definitive viewing order?

Do them in chronological order of air date. I'm sure Wiki can help you there.

Though Enterprise is the 'first' show in terms of the era it portrays, a lot of it won't make sense without seeing the rest of the show first.

Also, if you put them all on your LF list, won't they arrive out of order anyway?

Edit: Oh and watch each show beginning to end, don't mix TNG/DS9 or DS9/VOY, it'll just get confusing. This is the way I'd do it:

TOS
TOS films (1-6)
TNG
Generations (Star Trek 7)
DS9
Star Trek 8
Star Trek 9
VOY
Star Trek 10
ENT

And because I'm bored, reasoning for the above:

TOS The original show, duh!
TOS films (1-6) The films that feature the original cast without touching on TNG (though some sets are reused)
TNG Doesn't really touch any of the other shows, apart from a small DS9 crossover but that's in DS9.
Generations (Star Trek 7) The first of the TNG films, connections to TOS but doesn't touch DS9 (unlike the later ones)
DS9 Stand alone, apart from the TNG crossover mentioned above. VOY has a DS9 crossover in the pilot.
Star Trek 8 The best of the TNG films, contains spoilers for the DS9 storyline, so only watch once it's completed.
Star Trek 9 The next chronologically, though it's pap.
VOY Next in line.
Star Trek 10 The 'bookend' to the 24h century storyline started in TNG.
ENT Set in the 'past', but leans on knowledge of all of the past shows.

I'm not gonna stick it all on it one go!

But Lovefilm are good in that you can say Enterprise Season One and they'll then send you discs 1-7 in order.

Hmm, I see the reasoning of your order... and agree it sounds a bit dim to me to watch Enterprise first... order of release would be better. TOS first it is then!

I must be one of the few but I really enjoyed Enterprise, it was getting crazy good in season 4 and then it ended. That terrible final episode just made it worse.

Bet it would have got even better in season 5+ if they included the Romulan war, wasn't given the chance it deserved.

Agreed, season 4 was so, so much better than the rest. The Romulan war would have been absolutely epic.

Thought I would mention there is also a crossover between DS9 and TOS, "Trials and Tribble-ations"

Series wise DS9 is the stand out for me, Enterprise was so so for first couple of seasons but when it really hit its stride they pulled the rug out from underneath it...last ever ep was an anti climax and so wish like others had mentioned that it got a 5th season for Romulan War...the ship itself was due a refit from reading around the net to become looking like the Constitution class design we fell in love with....if it got another season

At least I have my Bridge Commander and countless mods to appease my appetite...lol

I finally got around to watching the next generation, on to series 3 atm :)

Can't believe this tread is nearly 2 years old already
