Battlefield 4 had lots of network issues for the first couple weeks, but it settled down quickly. And the beta was certainly not better. The beta had all sorts of performance issues that didn't exist at all when the game finally released(it was actually amazingly optimized for a 2013 game). This game was about as close I got to regret over a pre-order, but even then, I simply waited a couple weeks before jumping in and I was quite happy after that. Rarely had any major issues and I got the game plus Premium for a pretty nice discount, so I ultimately dont regret it at all. I knew I was going to put in a ton of hours into it ultimately.Yup, steam refund's policy is a god send for PC gamers as not only does it give us a chance to test the game and get an idea on gameplay but if you get a refund for a broken game, the publisher of the game will lose money hence why Warner Bros took batman AK of steam.
How do you know that a game will run without issues on day 1 though? i.e. batman AK, battlefield 3/4, assasins creed unity and in the case of these games, it took months until the serious issues were fixed.
As has been shown, often the beta and even the alpha can be much better the final version....
If I was impatient, it would have bothered me more, but I always have something to play in the meantime.
