**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

I can go from fuming at the game to really enjoying it in the space of a match. Sometimes I get slaughtered, sometimes I do well despite not playing any differently. I despise some of the weapons balance and game mechanics which seem designed to infuriate, not to be fun. Online is just anarchy, no real battlelines or strategy.

If I could play Supremacy and Walker Assault offline I'd be much happier. I've got my moneys worth but I do feel very let down by a game I was really looking forward too.

Anyone have any idea when there's likely to be an EA pricedrop or CDKeys are likely to have it in stock again?

yes i believe it is possible. the game will give your origin friends preference over random other playes, i believe

Half and half, some games we were partnered and others I was partnered with randoms but he still stood out as a different colour to everyone else however couldn't spawn on him or anything. Bit rubbish but could have been worse I guess

played for 3 days and bored.

That’s my fear with this title. It looks so soulless, so shallow and so repetitive with the map size and objectives that after the initial wow factor on the way it looks and sounds it would get boring. Love SW but with players playing in third person with auto aim kind of kills it for me. I think if my mother who does not play games, well not since pong in the 70',80's could get kills in this then they have gone too simplistic and no challenge.

If the ships took actual skill and were even relevant, the maps massive and open play. Got to emit I don’t like the games make you spawn in the action with no tactics but only to kill from twenty yards from your spawn as amny times as you can before you spawn again.

I admit I still fire this up, but only for maybe a few rounds quickly before dinner or something. It's fun in a very shallow sense, so when I don't feel I have time to invest in a story driven game then this is the one.

Although.. to be fair insurgency feels a lot more satisfactory even in short bursts!

I can’t play games just now on my old system, rocking a 2004 build till the new one drops next year when I decide its worth it. Who knows even Dayz may be worth playing by then.

I base a lot of my thought on watching streamers to see what out there and enjoy just having a stream on my i-phone to the side of my keybard on a wee stand. The one thing I noticed is a good deal of the streamer I follow played it for the trial period and got excited for it, then played it a few days after release and slowly they all stopped even going near it saying the same thing. “Not playing BFSW as its got so boring and dull for the stream” Look at that Evolve game everyone got hyped about till it got boring real fast and the game died on its feet.

Would just have loved them to push what can be done and added more freedom and skill required. Instead of going hardcore they went softly softly pew pew auto aim third person with ATAT’s on rails.

This game made me go back and replay Jedi Knight 2 for some reason :D

Damn, Star Wars games used to be good back in the day. Try it with the "hardcore mode" mod someone made for it quite recently (since they released the source code), which makes it like the movies where blasters can 1-2 shot people (including you). It adds a whole new level of intensity to single player.

I'm not sure buying this is something I want to end up doing, but it's Star Wars!! I would be interested in this too but concerned it would have the same life span as BF4...short!

BF4 didn't have a short life span, BFH did. BF4 is still going strong today.

Sadly this game has as much depth as a puddle.

When I played and enjoyed FPS the most was probably between project PR mod for BF2 and BF1942, God we used to have rounds lasting over an hour and it felt massive. It's like players cant spawn any place other than fifteen seconds from action today. I used to value my life in 1942 as it took a wee while to get back into the fight and the game was better for it. Suspense was built up travelling and got even more exciting if you were notice on the ground by enemy air. If gave air support a reason to be there. Who did not like getting attacked while driving full pace in the jeep to make it.

It just was not this Spawn, instant kill, a few more kills, short run again and kill a few then death in a minute flat to do it all over again next spawn. In BF1942 we used to have tactical Tank battles that makes SWBF look like a tea party for little girls. It’s as if the meat is missing will you ever sit back and think “Wow” over the sound and visual.

Capture the Flag in this was just Epic.

EA CEO has already admitted to the game lacking for hardcore gamers, he said they wanted it to be accessible to everyone of all ages :(

It is good fun though, certainly not going to get a full year or more out of it but it will do for now....

Atleast that is honest of them. I just read the article

Making the first-person shooter accessible to a younger audience may have disappointed hardcore fans, says EA exec.

EA has acknowledged that Star Wars Battlefront may have disappointed some shooter fans for not having enough depth in its gameplay.

Speaking at a Nasdaq conference as noted by Gamespot, EA’s Blake Jorgenson said that by catering to as wide an audience as possible, the game may have alienated hardcore shooter fans.

“Star Wars Battlefront is a first-person shooter, but it is [one of] the only teen-rated first-person shooters. We had designed it to be a much more accessible product to a wide age group,” he said.

“So, an 8-year-old could play with his father on the couch, as well as a teenager or 20-year-old could play the game and enjoy it. It is more accessible. And for the hardcore, it may not have the depth that they wanted in the game.”

EA has said that it expects to sell 13 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront, despite some retailers suggesting it had underperformed on release.

The game keeps randomly freezing and then taking about 10 mins to crash back to the menu saying disconnected from server, so annoying.

Swapped out my 680 for a shiney new R9 390 and Hoth (smaller version map) is unplayable on the latest AMD drivers, great :(

Finding it harder to get into a game, the game goes down to looking for games 10% full before finding a server with 4 or 5 people waiting a game.
