**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

Its all about money EA do not want to spend the money required to craft a cinematic SP experience which I believe many would play. Not everyone has the time for lengthy MP or online only experiences either.

Pete Moore is seriously wrong about that. Just because EA flawed data says people only play SP once or never does not account for the players who play offline or block the data in their firewall settings from being transmitted

And yet a new IP has proved a huge success, spawning two sequels yet primarily is focussed on SP until game number 3 and even then the MP isn't/wasn't a huge time sink and they started the whole universe/backstory from scratch AND they've got another, fourth sequel planned, yet SP games don't sell? My Flabber is well and truly gasted at EA's idiocy and arrogance. (Mass Effect for those who are unsure what game I refer to)

Sure Battlefront was/is primarily a MP biased game but to have no SP content at all seems misguided. I play MP games a lot (691 hours in BF4 to date, 718 in BF3) but I also really enjoy SP games like Mass Effect and have played both MF3 and 4 SP campaigns along with Hardline's campaign and, so far, CoD WaW's, MW 1 and 2 as well as Black Ops 1 and Advanced Warfare SP too and really enjoyed them too. I would welcome a new Star Wars SP game.

Been reading through a few threads on here and its suprising how some people can just never be pleased with anything that is produced :S. There have been some classic star wars games over the years that focussed purely on SP as an example with no multiplayer what so ever. A game comes out the opposite end of the spectrum and people are up in arms about it.

The battlefront games have never been about a rich indepth story, they have been about large scale ground and vehicle combat ( now with the technology aerial combat too ) and just because thats basic doesnt mean its a bad thing. Regardless this is going to fly off the shelves due to its history and the new movie; guess I just can't understand people who are never pleased with anything that is released. Your life must be devoid of a lot of fun people!

The feedback is from the Alpha. Expectations are generally linked to the price. Personally I want a game with a lot of depth and a high skill ceiling so when I pump 100 hours into multiplayer I still feel like I only know half the game. If you look at all the great games they have this key element.

If the game was £20 I would have pre ordered regardless but it's not so I will pass until I get new information. Sadly I don't think they will change the game mechanics that much up to release. Most of the alpha and betas that DICE have released in recent years have been indicative of the final release. With these timescales you only have time to fix critical bugs.

I have no idea how much the game is retail brand new is it £100 as JOSH86 is suggesting? Im sure key sites will have it on for a decent price before release regardless. :)

Its still a lot of cash. I struggled to play more than 2 hours in the alpha and I played 60 hours in the beta for BF4...

I do think they missed out not having a single player experience in this game. I mean the Battlefield games had them and I can only imagine how amazing a single play star wars game in this engine would be.
I personally don't really touch multiplayer online FPS games anymore after years of burnout on counterstrike but I love star wars so ill probably still get it lol.

Sadly, it seems, there won't be any servers to rent outside EA. A mate of mine contacted i3D to see when details of server costs might appear and they responded with this:

Hi

Star Wars Battlefront will not have a hosting program like Battlefield. All hosting will be done inhouse by Electronic Arts.

Best regards,

Ramon

No SP aside, this news tempered my excitement about this game.

Well going direct via Origin (which many people do) pee release on Bf4 was around £40 for the base game and another £40 on top for premium.

I've adjusted due to it being Star Wars and EA being greedy. You won't get much change from a £100 is my guess.

Via keysites it will still run you close to £70 unless they do an epic pretty release price.

You mean like cdkeys normally do

Yes but not everybody supports buying games pre release.

I say it's your money it's your choice, however EA are a huge issue in the industry with countless DLC's, countless poor releases and poor ports. So I personally don't support them on pre-release items.

Just as well as i pre-order from key sites to save the extra so if its a bum game the hurt isn't to bad.

I love countless DLC imo it shows there is still interest in the game by both the dev's an community, what i don't agree in is over priced DLC.

Your playing on Pc format virtually every game that gets released that's worth playing is buggy or even a port at the start.

Where are people getting this £100 figure from? Sure we aren't expected to pay this much for a game which relies on the brand ao much more than the gameplay.

I'm pretty sure DICE would have learnt from BF4 also with the fanbase of StarWars being HUGE they can't afford to disappoint or ruin the brand. I believe from this, that the title will be really good. Of course initial teething problems could be expected but I think it will be great.

I think they have - the Alpha ran perfectly for me. Not a single crash and epic performance.

It's the fundamental game mechanics that I have an issues with. I hope they release a BETA for this game so I can reevaluate my opinion.

So your answer as to why we should just accept bad ports and buggy gameplay is to just "get a console". Yeah because that solves everything doesn't it.

I can't engage with a person a dim as you appear to be.

Well when some one offers you a solution to every half ass'd moan you make you show your true meaning, you really aren't that bothered about the game or the topic in hand any way an just here to have a cry!

"I can't engage with a person a dim as you appear to be" lmao your the one crying an hopping to make a change from it which will never happen any way, lmao yup the light shines bright in you.

You moan over Pc games then you start crying over solutions.

Let me guess you're a "the class is all ways half empty type of kid"

I'm sure EA will release a rose tinted spectacles DLC to make everyone forget the problems.

I wont be pre-ordering... Been burned too many times. Will wait for reviews and see about buying after it's had some time to breathe in what I expect will be a buggy release (as they usually are).
