**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

I think it's more that it won't have dedicated servers, which is the **** take. They want total control over the game environment, means less choice for the player. No servers with rules, such as abusing a glitched weapon for example.

They don't want the game to carry on through 3rd party servers when they're done with it, they want it to die when they release their next game.

This game was barely a blip on my radar before this news now it's dead in the water.

No dedicated servers, matchmaking and EPIC 24 player battles lol no thanks.

I think you're mixing up player-owned servers and dedicated servers. They could be running dedicated servers themselves and the matchmaking just distributes players amongst them.

I'm not sure why I'm splitting hairs over it tbh - it sucks :/

Yeah sorry I know what you mean, I think what I've been reading is no 3rd party dedicated servers, so you can't rent one and set it up to say for example ban the use of an OP weapon.
 
Hmm, I think I'm going to have to reconsider my pre-order with no server browser!

I guess I'll just have to strap on my pip boy and head back to the wasteland for a year!

Lol this game gets better and better. I'm still going to try the beta if I can but this is looking like a steaming pile of crap and I'm usually pretty optimistic when it comes to games.
 
I think they could have done so much more with this game. It's just Battlefield with a star wars mod. No custom dedicated servers is a huge let down too :/

Is there actually any evidence that there is going to be a beta?

I'm guessing, but I think the severe lack of PC orientated features and dunbed down shooter mechanics are likely to mean that there will be no beta in case it causes the kind of mass pre-order cancellation that occurred after the HL beta.

I wish it was a BF mod, but it seems they are going for a much more limited style of game.

Just read they are not even having a server browser in this, it will be matchmaking lobbies only :(

Looks like my fears about the console market creating a dumbed down experience are starting to come true. Ah well. Sign of the times I guess. No rentables, no server browser. Smells suspiciouly like they are gonna use the same kind of P2P netcode model as CoD uses. I'm out until this title has proven itself to be worthy of purchase.
