**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

I'd imagine it will be similar to BF4 but with the third person viewpoint that Battlefront has always had. I really won't mind though if this is the case!

And the most rip off ever,It was essentially a modded BF4..they're so greedy charging full whack for a whole new game when under the hood,Its not.
Should have been sold as £15 max DLC to BF4 and not £49.

Seriously though,I'm really looking forward to Battlefront,The frostbit engine is beautiful and capable of a lot..its going to be great.

You could get it for £27!

@Sega Mega Dave: The game was well recognized as being very stable on release. To be honest I didn't have many issues with BF4 but I guess I was in the minority on that one.

Given EA's recent FPS launches (Hardline) I wouldn't be in hurry to give EA my money.

Care to elaborate on the game breaking bugs which were found on day one because I'm not aware of any? Sure there are gun balance issues but nothing that really break's the game.

It's post like this that make me think that on release day half the fanboys will end up having pre-ordering the game. They will then play it for half a day and proceed to come onto various online forums such as this and then bitch and complain about how broken the game is yet plead total ignorance to fact that every FPS game EA craps out is a glorified alpha release not fit for general consumption.

The state of battlefield 4 as it is now, proves that it was a decent game. The problem is that it was rushed and released unfinished.

EA took a battering over this with the fans and the press and for the first time in a while pushed back the release date of a Battlefield game and released Hardline in March instead of in November, and took time to listen to fan feedback in the beta and try and make changes for the better.

Providing they keep those same lessons for Battlefront it will be a good game. I'm assuming they are going to use the same Frostbite engine as Battlefield 4 / hardline and just create entirely new assests for everything and have it set in the Star Wars universe.

Don't get me wrong, i'm no fan boy, I bought hardline on the second weekend after the UK launch, having waited almost 2 weeks since the US launch just to see what it was like at launch.

Aside from a few balancing issues like the abudance of RPGs, the game was released with no major technical issues whatsoever.

I expect battlefront to be the same.

He's talking about BF4. BF4 was released unfinished and they took the *** with the customers. Theres still a danger they will do this, I won't pre order battlefront and I'll wait it out for a week or so and see what its like. But EA and DICE can produce games that run well on launch, if they stop rushing to beat COD in November.

The worry is with battlefront is that the deadline is set in stone so it co-incides with the release of not just Black Ops 3, but also with the release of the latest star wars movie. They can't push the deadline of this, which means it could happen all over again. Fingers cross it doesn't however.

The problem isn't that it was a modded BF4, very few games have an entirely new engine every release. Its just too expensive to write a whole new game engine every time you create a new game. The problem was lack of content. The multiplayer needed more guns, more maps, more vehicles and more imagination. Cynical brit had it right that they could have done so much more with the cops and robbers theme.

Be that as it may, the game is stable, doesn't crash every 5 minutes, and is still a pleasurable way to spend an evening running round shooting people :)

Hardline was a dog for me, stuttering and generally a garbage product. Refunded within 24 hours.

They're playing with fire with this though and BF4 is in a decent state so i hope they take that on board.

I think this issue is with your setup. Its not something that got mentioned in any of the reviews, and if anything people were moaning that it was essentially a reskinned BF4. The actual mechanics behind the engine and the graphics etc.. are all fairly mature and most don't seem to have many issues.

The only game i've had an issue with, BF3/4 run fine.

My end or not it didn't work well, Most importantly though it was garbage to play.

So the bench of quality is so low now so long as a game has no "game breaking bugs" it worthy or purchase?

Anyone that has participated in the software development process understand's that there are bugs. Alpha's, beta's etc help to iron out serious bug but no code base is perfect on release. I guess I'm just trying to be realistic - I don't expect perfection on release.

I've had maybe 1-2 RTD's since playing hardline and 0 serious crashes which I think is pretty decent. Like Frodders said if you're having major issues with hardline it's probably your setup rather than the game itself.

Anyways, back on topic.

That quote you've included isn't addressing whether it's "worthy of purchase", it's addressing someone else's implication that it had a shoddy launch. Many things affect whether a launch is any good - server capacity and amount of bugs/crashes being the main two in my mind. Just being a good or bad game is a separate consideration.

Don't forget existing issues with people PCs :D

I'm looking forward to Snowspeeders, AT-ST's, X-Wings, Y-Wings, A-Wings, TIE Fighters, bombers, interceptors. Wonder if they'll actually have an AT-AT playable and pilotable? Balancing the ships might be quite difficult, TIE ships have no shields but Alliance ships all have shields.
