**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

Only way to fix this game for me would be..

40 vs 40
Ability to select vehicles at the beginning
Aim down sight

That's it really! 20 vs 20 just doesn't cut it on PC anymore. 120 vs 120 in Planetside 2 last night, what a sigh to behold it was on Ultra graphics.
Agree. 20 vs 20 just isn't enough I mean hell even BF4 has 30 vs 30

I enjoyed it for the most part, when I could get in. Pod game mode seemed fine but walker assault just kept getting 'the session has expired'. I also had crazy lag (kind of fps lag) when loading the game up and when counting credits and exp at end of rounds. Sound would distort too.

Apparently it's a problem with AMD cards. Anyone experience similar issues? I have an R9 280x with latest drivers.

Sucked that grouping didn't work either if you had more than two players.

Is there anyway to defend against air?

I'm really enjoying this game for the most part, but just played a game on Hoth as both rebels and imperials and we were getting our collective asses handed to us by the fly boys, about 10% of the time, it was spawn and die.

Tried to fly a few times myself, but it's annoying entering the battlefield and not having immediate control of your ship, watching 3 tie fighters speeding towards you.

The Hoth map as a whole is just plain broken at the moment. Rebels just have no real way to stop vehicles (Besides a grenade and the ION shot (Which is no where near enough)) in the beta at present. I expect it will be better once the game goes live but I had an imp last night who was 79-2 because he was in vehicles constantly and no one could touch him.

Your weapons do quite a lot of damage to the aircraft, but the slow speed of the bolts means you have to lead a lot. Three of you can take down an aircraft in one of it's strafes if it's coming straight for you and you all concentrate your fire on it.

It was ok, something different to play. Don't think ill ever play full price for it. We all know that the full version is going to be the BETA with some additional maps and some additional weapons and that is it. Looking at BFH and how they did that one, its going to be similar.

I think they could have done a lot more with it. Ill probably buy it, if i can get it cheap from a cdkey website. I can't see me playing it as much as bf4.

I can see how they wanted to try something different rather than just making it a bf4 with star wars skin, but maybe that would have worked better.

There are ways to "beat" the walkers (using the snow speeders for example) but I guess the fan base just doesn't know / understand it very well yet and the vehicle spawn points aren't widely known. A small tweak showing where the power ups are on the map might be useful, I still haven't found a snow-speeder spawn point despite looking for them...

I also agree, people who think that the Imperials are OP and taking down walkers is too hard maybe don't have a full grasp of what is possible.

Obviously it requires a team to be somewhat coordinated, but it still very possible if the Rebels know what they need to do. Air superiority is key, at least to take out AT-STs. Its almost better to take and hold one uplink rather than try and split your resources across two, flipping them back on and off doesn't really work. Save your orbital strikes, and blaster emplacements for when the AT-ATs become vulnerable.

Been watching some streams of this... it looks fairly impressive (ignoring the visual bugs etc. which they can iron out later)... and sounds authentic etc. but ignoring that part and focusing on the gameplay it just seems a bit too much like a run-of-the-mill BF/CoD re-skin... which is a shame

Seriously, what is Star-Wars-y (tm) about the game other than the aesthetic? It feels to me like they've approached it like "Okay we've got Battlefield, how can we fit the Star Wars stuff into that?" instead of thinking "Okay we've got Star Wars, how can we transfer some of the battles into a game?"...

I'm donning my flamesuit already, but I'm sorry I just don't consider "fighter jet ---> tie figheter.... rifle ---> laser rifle.... tank ---> at-st...." plus slapping a few sounds and logos onto CoD/BF to be the work of a team passionate about the franchise or about anything other than getting something out asap to milk the console CoD fanboys and eager Star Wars fans before the movie comes out

I played an hour and a bit over the weekend and I quite enjoyed it. I was worried about the 20v20 max but in walker assault it seemed enough. I'm not going to pre order as I'm not sure on the amount of content on release and whether it's worth £40.

It is nothing like battlefield, like at all. Weapons have no recoil, there is no ADS and hipfire is laserbeam accurate which makes zooming pointless as it just slows you down. You dont pick a class like in battlefield and you have to pick up battle pickups in order to get into a vehicle which spawn randomly all over the map.

I honestly wish it was a lot more like battlefield to be honest. If you strip away the star wars aesthetics and apply the same gameplay to make a generic scifi shooter i'm sure most of the people who are singing its praise wouldn't be interested at all. Thats the real problem, star wars should be the icing on the cake of what is a great game, not what drags a mediocre shooter up to a higher standard just because its star wars.

Looks as though DICE LA are looking at people's concerns. Too late if you ask me because as I said before CTE should not be used to fix issues that could have been fixed months ago. Spawn protection and not being able to partner spawn when in combat is a BF4 feature so why couldn't they have put it in on Day 1?

Also it seems loads of people are finding out how to spawn rape as Imperials.

Anyway the game received a patch today, no idea what's in it though.

Both maps are terrible.

It's pure arcade trash. Lets put the star wars element into an even more dumbed down battlefield version and see ££££ come in is our strategy.

BF4, hardline and now this rubbish. DICE are only getting worse, unfortunately.
