****Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker - Official Thread****

Was watching an interview with Lucas last night from a few years back where he goes off on a tangent about people abusing new tech, he talks about when sound in movies when the new thing people went mad with it, same when colour came into play, and finally digital effects. Hate to ask him but has he seen his own prequels? Those movies are about 90% digital effects, in a lot of instances its using digital effects for the sake of it. They have a weird look to them especially "Attack of the Clones" where the ending battle is taking place, nothing about the battle looks remotely real besides the actors, just has a weird look and colour to it. It's more like watching a cut scene from a game.

For me:

Great: Empire Strikes Back

Fun: A New Hope, The Last Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Last Jedi, Rogue One, Solo

Poor: Phantom Menace, Attack if the Clones

I’m sort of repeating what I’ve said previously by rogue one is kind of boring on a rewatch with it’s very distinct 3 acts / settings. Feels sort of linear. Refreshingly subdued leads but crappy supporting characters... other than the robot, super awesome.

Don’t even get me started on L3 from Solo. Easily the worst Star Wars character ever.

HAHAHAHA - No.

My guess is that "Darth Rey" is a vision similar to Luke's "Darth Luke" one at Dagobah. The fleet of star destroyers looks meh, more like it a storage facility rather than a fleet ready for combat, the village on the sand planet flying kites looks "odd" like the CGI isn't quite ready yet.

I did like the visual of the "rebels" brand new and magically bought out of nowhere fleet dropping out of lightspeed, I mean considering there was just a few dozen rebels alive at the end of TLJ and no-one was answering their calls for help, they've done well to accumulate such a large fleet and, should there be a need to say destroy a large fleet of star destroyers, well just lightspeed one of those small ships through them to instantly win any battle, just like TLJ taught them!
