Star Wars: Force Unleashed Demo

Hmmm, a very limited combat mechanic however the trailer at the end showed that you could learn some pretty impressive moves. If they make it so that the combat skills become powerful enough to be used as well as the overpowered force throw then i may invest.

I'll wait for reviews.

Just played through the PS3 demo. I really enjoyed that and I'm really looking forward to the game being released now - I love a good Star Wars game :)

Ok...this is amazing :D

Actually found the 360 version to look better here, could be my TV, I don't know, I'm sure, from playing both demos, this will be fantastic! :)

Played the demo for 5 minutes last night on the way to bed, and got annoyed with two things straight away:

1) Can't move whilst blocking, and it isnt automatic. Great, whilst I'm being shot at I can't move to cover or to attack the enemy.
2) Lightsabers take ~3 hits to kill an enemy. Whhhaaaatt? Did the devs not watch any of the films or play any of the JK games?! In the JK games, lightsabers were 1 hit kills weapon (and they actually took limbs off too) - here I felt like I was beating them to death with a blunt stick!

Maybe I overlooked something (it was late and I played for 5 mins tops), but at the moment it doesn't come close to JKii :(

The limb removal was a mod in the JK games though I seem to recall (or it was included in the code but disabled for the release versions and mods re-enabled it...something like that wasn't it?)...

I felt a little dissapointed too. The force moves didn't seem instinctive enough and it was much easier to run around beating them to death with the blunt end of my torch.

I also felt that the finishing moves were a bit harsh. It was difficult if not impossible to see the AT STs health bar, and this meant that I ended up pressing the X button too many times. The first I knew of a button sequence being activated was when it came up with an A with a red line through it to tell me I'd failed.

I enjoyed it, people seem to be over looking the fact this is a demo though, you don't have all of your powers in it, maybe later you can block while moving maybe not but force powers will get stronger, the guy takes down a Star Destroyer in one of the cut scenes for gods sake :)

I played through the demo three times last night, just to be sure ;)

I'm definitely still getting it, pre-ordered at £32, so if anybody finds a better price, feel free to let me know ;)

Like most comments above, I found the targetting system frustratingly clunky, more pot luck that it would lock onto the object you actually wanted, but still enjoyed throwing stuff around with the force grip, and levitating baddies before throwing my light sabre at them.... and using force grip on some of the ships in the hanger, and throwing them around.

Not a perfect game, but fun enough to warrant a purchase.
If they fix the awful target selection, and just polish up the controls a bit, then all the better!

Shame there's still the better part of a month to wait for it!

Vin.
