Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (fallen order sequel)

Just got past forest gate and am in the forest. It's unreal how good this area looks yet is completely smooth, no stutters and averaging 90fps+

If the rest of the game stayed like this.... I have RT off btw and am not seein any losses. The sabre still reflects in water too, I thought reflections in water were off when RT was off based on a video review from the other day:

And also noticed a bug with depth of field lol (not a setting you can turn off):

I completed Forest Gate yesterday and found the same, though it's less open world there and more of a traditional Fallen Order area really.

The depth of field is annoying, I think this is the blurriness i was talking about before. If you open photo mode it's absolute garbage. I'd be turning that off if I could but I suspect they don't want you to as it hides distant low-quality assets to keep performance up.

Well same settings as before (all Epic, FSR off, ray tracing on) and the patched game is no different. Bottom of Koboh in the town fps drops to low 40s, other areas it's 85/90/100 etc - Inside Pyloon's saloon it is fine until the moment you decide to even think about heading towards the exit, then the fps just drops.

I get the feeling these issues are DRM related, Denuvo

The RT performance wasnt changed in the patch, just the non RT which has improved greatly for me after patch. Im just playing with it off and having no problems no really other than the occasional micro stutter in newer areas, much more pleasant than playing with RT and bobbing between 55 and 60 fps.

Surely though, because not everything is ray traced, even with ray tracing on, there's some rasterisation performance that has also been improved.

New Nvidia driver out now - Which means lots more lovely shader stutter as it has to recompile everything. But I'll install it to see if it makes any difference.

The game compiles shaders on every run anyway so you'll always get stutters:p

Digital Foundry suggested the game isn't actually doing anything on subsequent runs because there is pretty much zero CPU usage.

I'll soon find out because it's quite obvious when you are playing a game with shaders compiled vs one that is doing it on the fly all over again.

Screw it, skipping Squadrons and starting up Fallen Order before trying this (hopefully it will be fixed by then).

Edit - @mrk random question but what export settings do you use to generate your GIFs?

Edit - no I won't. Managed to get to the menu for the first game, wondered why there were no resolution options and have struggled to even launch the EA app or game due to a seemingly common issue with the game (missing DLLs). FFS. Never experienced such a **** show of a games platform, almost every turn something else goes wrong.

Edit - fresh install later and it's up and running. Still no resolution option but runs well.

Performance on Nvidia is much improved on the new patch

That being said I didn't notice any improvement but after seeing this I understand why, at 4k the 4090 doesn't improve that much, it's mainly lower end GPUs that improve and low resolutions like that 1080p and 1440p that improve. The game still stutters and there are still scenes in the game where the 4090 does not even run at 100% utilisation

Well just finished it. Took me 18 hours. I'd say across all the planets i explored 75% of the thing.

Not a classic but i definitely enjoyed it overall.

I’ve played about 13 hours and I don’t think I’m close to being finished but I’m trying to do a fairly completionist run, talk to people, do the rumours, etc.

Ahh i am not one for that. I was really into the story so i tried to stay on main objectives but i got lost a few times which i think helped top up my exploration levels :D
