Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Disney+)

Can't say I'm particularly enthused by the thought of Skeleton Crew and kids in any TV show are normally an automatic turn off, but I'll give it a go.......maybe the kids get spaced or something ;)

I watched both episodes. Good start. So far none of the kids are super annoying, although in this type of show there will always be one eventually!

Good 80s/90s family movie sort of vibe.

Still more enjoyable than all the last Star Wars rubbish bar The Mandalorian.
You didn't like Andor?

The first episode did seems to be AMERICA IN SPACE given the planetary aesthetic.
I absolutely agree - I hate it whenever Star Wars features blatant theme elements of, say, 1950s America, or the Wild West as they did with Cad Bane.
They did such a great job in the earlier films and even some subsequent series, by making something that is totally alien in design yet still looks familiar enough on screen for the audience to understand. More recently it's just been a case of taking a '57 Chevy and slapping some rocket boosters on its backside. Horrible, lazy aesthetic and nothing like what Star Wars should be.

All that aside, though, this is presumably aimed at kids and so far has a pretty healthy Spielbergian sense of balance to it. Not something I'd actively seek out, but I live with a SW geek who even owns a Lightsaber, and since the programme will be on anyway, I might as well watch it... Hell, I made it all the way through The Acolyte so this can't be as bad, right?

Well I'm really liking it so far, I'll tune back in on around Jan14th when the season is finished and binge the last 6 episodes but looking forward to how this unfolds.

Its obviously not made for me but its "ok" its very 80s kids vibe and it pulls it off quiet well.
I already think its better than Obi Wan...
Whatever, take it or leave it. Still waiting for Andor.

If you can get past 1-2 things so far probably the best Star Wars short of Rogue One and Andor in a long time.

I'm looking forward to sitting down with my kids and watching it, the trailer made it look like a nice family feel good watch which will be great over the Christmas break! I know I won't like it as much as I like a New Hope but I put that down to me now being old, jaded and the passage of time making A New Hope better than it really is! Like when you favourite band from the 90's releases a new album and no matter how good it is it won't be as good as their early stuff!
