Its a bit like a calm before the storm.

I just feel it has been a bit too easy for us to get near Baghdad.

Then again, they know more than we do, Special Forces etc etc.

Well from my point of view and I suppose most others as I like everyone else only get info from the media, it seems like you say, a bit too easy.

I mean there have been some major fire fighters but there have been relativly very few iraqi POW's only what 4,000?

So where did everyone else go. I cant believe that a 100,000+ strong army, minus the 4,000 POW's has been destroyed. they went somewhere and either the Iraqis will try and lure the US into Bagdad for a Urban Warfare or some WoMD will be used.

I have this bad horrible feeling in my gut that something bad is going to happen within 5 daya or so.:(

Hope my gut feeling is very very wrong.

I have the same feeling Over Clocker, I mean Saddam (if alive) said this will be his last battle, and with our forces knocking on his back door....Whats to stop him from doing everything he can to go down remembered in history? He isnt going to sit back and let our forces take over baghdad without any conflict......

I really hope this guy doesnt sit there at his desk waiting for our forces to be surrounding him, then stroke a nice shiney nuke at his side.......

and push the button.

:(

Initial reports are that the whole capital is in darkness, but this is breaking news so unsure.

Live pictures from Baghdad show that the only source of light are the car headlights.

Stiff Cookie they've said there are at least 9000 POW's I believe now. Theres no doubt Coalition air power has consistently wiped out the Iraqis who try to fight in the open.

Who can really say what is happening at the moment, everyone is feeling nervous about things right now but thats only natural. For all we know the command & control infrastructure of Iraq may have been damaged to the point that some of "Saddams Surprises" have failed to be activated. If Saddam does have something up his sleeve he sure is leaving it very late before using it.

As US forces advance on Baghdad, Saddam Hussein continues to issue statements of defiance - while his officials warn the coalition forces that the capital will be their graveyard.

For days, senior Iraqi officials have offered the American and British forces an ironic welcome to their capital.

It is a message of both defiance and bravado: "Enter Baghdad if you dare - we're waiting for you".

Am I the only person to wonder:

a) Why they have an Information Minister - we dont? Propaganda Minister, anyone?

b) Why he is making all the announcements. All we've seen of Saddam is broadcasts which could well have been recorded, none of which reffered to anything really relevent that could pinpoint a rough date it was recorded.

Is he still alive?

News site

Guys,
Hope this post don't offend anyone but after searching through forums on the net I decided to set up a site simply to discuss the NEWS, nothing more. I will probably dump the site when the war is finally over but for now if you have an issue you want to shout about then I would like to hear from you.

Baghdad Airport is under attack:

AIRPORT 'UNDER ATTACK'

US forces have launched an attack on Baghdad airport, as the Iraqi capital was plunged into darkness in a power cut.

Reuters correspondent Luke Baker, travelling with the engineer units of the 3rd Infantry Division, said military sources told him a 3rd Infantry task force had launched the assault on the airport.

"There is no assessment of the battle yet but they haven't encountered any resistance so far," Baker said from outside Baghdad. Saddam International Airport is about 12 miles southwest of the sprawling city.
