STD tests

Obviously it's the latter. Let's be realistic here, your not going to want to insure someone who is going to die in a few years are you?

If its the latter, then just ask outright if you have it or not. If you lie, you invalidate the policy when they find out.

Asking if you have been "tested" is actually a surrogate marker to see if you engage in "risky" behaviour, which will lead you to get something. They cant actually ask about your sexual practices directly (because of discrimination laws) so do it this way. (Wrong IMO).

Further, even if you "did" have HIV, with modern meds, you can live many decades.

You'll have to specifically ask for HIV test, it doesn't fall under the "usual std test" category. There's a small scratching sensation (well, there was when I had mine..) but no pain. Blood, pee and swab.
I think they're opt out now, or they are in my local clinic. He said it had changed recently.

i don't have life insurance so no odds there :) - i think i would rather some stranger does it, but...... what happens if it's a female nurse, i think i would get a stiffy if ANY female touched my captain

Trust me, it'll be trying to dig a hole into your abdomen out of fear :D

The swab isn't too bad really. Didn't hurt to **** afterwards for the urine test.

There is no pain on earth to match having a cotton bud rammed down your urethra. I've had it twice, and I will not be having it again.

Didn't hurt badly for me.

Sure I wouldn't do it for fun. It stung a tad, but I just lent my head back and clenched my fists. It only lasts about 5seconds and then it's over with anyway.

It may be uncomfortable but not as uncomfy as having an STD, nor being treated for it, nor having to tell a partner that you have it (so they protect themselves or get tested), or being confronted about it (when a partner has a test and finds they have something that could only have come from you!)

Get tested!

So, tell me again, what constitutes a "medical advice" thread?

I think this is a good thread in general but the question still stands?

It does not hurt! I thought the worst bit was having some young nurse hold what, at the time, was my rather humble looking chap.

I changed my mind the next time when the next nurse had me hold it myself......I had showered!!!

I think they mainly want to avoid people posting with symptoms and asking for advice (especialy if the thread involves pictures :() . I expect in case some said 'oh that's nothing to worry about' and then someone drops down dead.

What to expect or just getting stuff of your chest is fine.

Nothing to it really, pee in a cup, have some blood taken and then have a bit of plastic stuck up your japs eye, doesn't really hurt but is a very very strange sensation, you get the swab and pee test result straight away, the blood result comes a week later, normally by text.

 That conjures some strange picture in my head of you getting a text saying "U HAZ AID. FAIL"

My first visit was a male nurse!! Not good:(

****** mate...how long ago was this previous girl?
Its highly unlikley you have HIV even if she did have and if you dont have any symtoms...then your missus probably would....so no chlamydia either! Dont even bother getting tested.
I have been a few times after a few momments of madness abroad!..and learned a lot.

No swearing

Dunno why people are talking about jabbing you up the jap's eye.

I've had 2 full STD tests in the past 3 years (yes, paranoid girlfriends :p) and they were just urine and blood tests. No jabbing whatsoever.
