Steam Is Now Offering Refunds

2 hours isn't always long enough to see if you want to keep it or not... ah well baby steps

See, I'd say 2 hours is more than long enough to decide if you want to play something. My first impression of games is normally made within the first 20mins of gameplay.

My question is this, if I was to pay for and download a game with trading cards/drops, what would happen to them items once I've refunded the game? Or if I'd even sold them on in the market. Whilst trading cards are peanuts in terms of money, if you'd got a good drop within 2 hours in lets say CS:GO, would it just be lost?

I disagree, I played some games 2 mins and realised they were a load of rubbish lol
AC:unity. lords of the fallen and many more

I did say it isn't ALWAYS enough. I've experienced games where I've had enough after 20 minutes too but some don't allow you to expereince everything in 2 hours just saying really... also can see a lot of people over looking that "rule" and expecting a refund after a day once they've had time to think about it :p

I rarely ever buy digital games, in fact I only do so when there is no other option. But it's nice to see they are finally getting in the realms of fairness with refunds etc.

Whilst this is good news I personally see it as a pre-cursor to them re-introducing paid mods. Now that the refund rules have been established i'm sure different mod incompatibilities will be covered under these as well. Good rules are established but bad if they have been established just to bring back paid mods.

Re the can't experience everything in 2 hours. If you want to experience everything in most games you need to complete them. If you're 2 hours into the game and still aren't sure then personally for me I wouldn't still be playing a game I disliked after 2 hours, maybe one I thought was ok but ok is enough to warrant the price in most cases.

I had a refund through this morning for Kerbal Space program. (game text waaayyy to small for me to see, even though I sit 3 inches from my monitor)

As it was on a 14 day deferred payment from Paypal, I got a message from steam to say it had been refunded, then another from paypal to say the payment was cancelled.
Awesome

You have missed out on a real gem there.

Is this because Steam is being made to do this? I'd be surprised if they were doing this because they love their customers lol.

Finally. Now you can actually buy a game without worrying about if it will run properly on your PC or if it's a piece of **** alpha game in disguise.

What if the first 2 hours are polished but after that train wreck?

I really wished The text could be made bigger. I really wanted to be able to play it. I have really poor sight, really really poor LOL and I just could not see the text at all.
I went online to see if it could be made bigger and the general view was it could not. So I had massive buyers regret as there was a demo and I should have tried that first. Then this came along and I got my money back.

Also I had the choice of Paypal or Steam wallet.

Ok, try for refunds that are older, it works.

I just got a refund on:

Dark Souls 2, purchased 18th December 2014, decent game, not my taste though.
South Park, purchased 13th March, 2015.

Gonna try for a few more that are under the 2 hour limit.

I did the same went through my library (387 games!) and got refunded on about 6 games one of them was dark souls 2 , got around 80 quid back and then preordered the steam link with what I got back :)

It appears there is a 6 month "hard limit" on the age of the games. Anything over that it won't let me even try for a refund.

This is a huge step in the right direction though, not afraid to try out new games now for fear of wasting money.
