Steam Link and Steam Controller now available to Pre Order

Yeah I figured £40 was cheap enough to try it out.

I have a wired setup. PC -> Router -> Link.

I've got a 20m HDMI cable which I have used before to play games on the TV (I completed Tomb Raider entirely on the TV), but the GF isn't keen on me running that through the house. I have managed to run some flat Cat5 around the house to feed the FireTV box so I'm running the Link over that too.

I have a small Logitech wireless keyboard with touchpad mouse in it. I think I'm going to plug that into the Link to cover off those situations where having a pad fails, or needing to move the mouse cursor out the way.

apparently the Link review embargo lifts tomorrow so lots of reviews will be out hopefully tested in different scenarios! either way most of the feedback in this thread has given me enough confidence in it for a £40 item

I've had a chance to play Grid Autosport on the link. It is quite laggy unfortunately. I suspect my hardware and wifi are the culprit. I'm upgrading to a gaming laptop next year so I think rather than spending money now to remedy it I will sell the Steam Link and wait for the laptop. Shame as it is a really great piece of hardware.

ahh would have had it off you :D just ordered one last night! not to worry

Are these not working very well with homeplugs? I'd have to invest in a new router if so. I am very tempted though, always found making the pi2 run the steam big picture streamer was hit and miss overall.

I'm hoping they'll work OK with Homeplugs as I use them to get from the router on one side of the room to the media clobber on the other side and I'm planning on picking up a Link at the end of the month.

I got a message on Friday saying my controller is being shipped, so hopefully it will be with me in the next few days.

same mate, im using the basic tp link network plugs and my isp provided router..

Xb1 to win10 streaming works flawlessly over this set up so i am hoping this will be the same?

Hi,

Anyone's showing as landed in the uk yet ? I'm very eager to get the steam link up and running for Fallout but mine hasn't tracked since the 5th November :(.

Me too. It looks like it's being delivered by parcel force express 24, so I'd imagine it will land today and be delivered on release tomorrow.

Ahh as long as im not the only one. Was concerned it was lost or something.

I spoke to parcelforce who told me if it lands in the UK today it would be a 48 hour turnaround despite being on a 24 hr service :S ...

Packed away my mini-PC that I barely used because it seemed a hassle to get it up and streaming, hopefully the Link will arrive soon and it'll be a much smoother experience.

Also purchased more 360 controllers and an additional dongle so I don't have to keep unplugging the other one from my PC.... 4-play local couch multiplayer should be simple now!

Mine is showing as being shipped on the 7th, but tracking info shows it as still being in the Netherlands. Should be here this week, I need to pull my finger out and get some 360 wireless controllers.

has Steam sorted out the connectivity issues with the 360 wireless controllers? I've seen on the steam forums that people have are experiencing problems with it and that the steam link doesn't even register the controller at all.

I'd not read that :o I should really keep up to date with the Link Steam discussion & Reddit! Is there a go-to wireless controller in that case? The Link will be too far away from the couch to use wired 360 controllers.

DS4 apparently works ok, though battery life is horrid.

I know the Xbox One controllers were a maybe, but nothing so far to suggest that the older 360 controllers will be a major problem? You need the wireless adapter to be plugged in of course though. This is stated directly in the sticky in the steam forums.

Only issues I'm seeing are that turning the console on/off and whether the controller does likewise.. not enough of a reason to think its a major issue.
