Steam Summer sale - 19-30th June

Bought The Witcher 2 - I'll never play it
Bought Far Cry 3 - I already own it on uPlay
Bought Anno 2070 - Wanted this for ages, chuffed.

Let the money wasting begin! :p

Why'd you buy Far Cry 3 again? Doesn't the Steam version use uPlay as well, so essentially you've got nothing better there?

********.

Why is it on Steam then? Is it unreasonable to assume that a Steam game runs on Steam? What the hell? :(

I didn't buy it the first time, I won it. But I bought it again so I could get rid of uPlay... It was the bonus edition with loads of DLC though so I suppose it isn't that bad...

Wasted money, will never install it. Screw uPlay. :(

Will sell if I can... Is there a way to gift/get the code for a purchased game if I haven't installed it?

I have FC3 on Steam and it does indeed require UPlay. It does say so in small writing somewhere on the FC store page on steam.

Unfortunately my experience with Ubisoft is that all of their games sold on Steam require uPlay to run. It does indeed suck. It makes me steer clear of many Ubi games tbh.

Don't take this the wrong way... I think uPlay is stupid and I resent having to have another tool which does an inferior but similar job to Steam, however when I used it to play the retail copy of Far Cry 3 I got for Christmas I found it to be fairly unobtrusive for the most part...

It's not that bad to put up with when it's working as it should and I never had any problems with their servers not letting me play etc... You could perhaps give it a try before you deny yourself a pretty fun game in FC3?

Calm yourselves...steam version of FC3 launches the Uplay window and you click launch game on it. It's only 1 extra mouse click and 5 more seconds. I know it's painful but not the end of the world...

I'm more annoyed that I bought a game through Steam so that I didn't have to have uPlay installed, and the game I bought through Steam, needs uPlay! I already own the game on uPlay! I won it!

I've had troubles with my savegames on uPlay so I wanted to get rid of it and use a Steam version! :(

I'm also a little tight for space on my SSD, and I thought I'd be getting rid of another piece of software, and making it easy to uninstall and reinstall the game without affecting my save-data.

My yo-ho-ho special edition of FC3 worked better than the uPlay version. :(

Please take pitty on my bank account.
Picked up Far Cry 3 (With DLC), Bood Dragon, Far Cry 2 Complete, Tomb Raider so far.
Hoping for a sale on ROME Total War 2? Fingers crossed.

Is GTA IV Complete worth it for £9? Played it on PS3 but without the DLC.
Also, how is Anno 2070? Any good?
Is Dead Island and riptide worth a punt for £10 each?
Finally Borderlands 2 GOTY for £13.99, still many play? Is it worth it? Had it on PS3, does the GOTY add much?

Cheers fella's

Borderlands 2 is amazing, it would be worth every penny even if it were £50. But then again I am a Borderlands fanatic... *attempts to hide posters behind self*

Anno 2070 looks awesome too, I've played Anno 1404 quite extensively and enjoyed every minute. 2070 is more of the same but set in the future, with far superior graphics and visual effects, a better UI, and more features. Definitely the sort of game that will prevent you from going to bed because you can't stop playing. :p

I personally wouldn't pay £9 for GTAIV, but then again it isn't really my thing. Owned it on PS3.

picked up borderlands 2 goty for like 3 quid a few weeks ago on hukd, so going to go through and treat myself to the extra dlc that doesn't come in it later :D seeing as its all 51% off!

I am not interested in cinematics really. Dialogue is only really relevant to help the story. But what about the gameplay, the core element of the game and the thing you spend most time doing (or not as the case may be if the stories are true about the intrusive cinematics)?

Having watched videos it does indeed just look like a case of get a load of guns and shoot the bad guys and partake in a few scripted set pieces. Are the levels linear or can you conquer them in your own way by altering your routes through them? Are there any other elements to the levels other than killing everything that moves (IE puzzle solving, finding items, using the environment to kill enemies instead of tackling them head on)? Can you upgrade/progress your character in a way which suits your play style? Can you modify and upgrade weapons in the same way? Do you have any other abilities which help (IE like telekenesis, body armour, weapon/melee/stealth bonuses granted depending on your play style? Duel weilding .50 cal rifles? Really? What about enemy AI? Seems to me like they just run in and shoot at you? Do they call alarms in order to bring more backup if you are seen? Or do they not bother and if they die well, their tough luck?

Seems to me like this is just RTCW with better graphics, but I am more than happy to be proven wrong. The last Wolfenstein game at least tried to add different elements of play style, but this one does seem like a rehash with better graphics but ultimately the same gameplay as 2001! :)

Sounds like you're expecting things at an unreasonable level. Perhaps this kind of game isn't for you then of you want epic puzzles with minimal immersion.

You can play Wolfenstein all guns blazing or go through with stealth. The game allows you to explore different set routes to the objective and it's not as linear as other shooters out there. Yes you do have to get guns and yes you do shoot enemies, that's the whole point. It's how you go about doing it that makes it fun and I don't know if you've actually read the huge thread on this game but majority verdict from actual people who have completed it is that it is a very good game that harks back to classic shooters like Doom, Quake and so on with the bonus of a decent story, decent development and engaging gameplay.

It's well worth the £25 it cost before for starters.

I don't tend to finish single player games often, Far Cry, Crysis 3 and a few others felt tired and clumsy after so long in. This game kept me interested throughout and just like Tomb Raider it ended being a big surprise by exceeding expectation I initially had based on what I'd seen in videos.

Hi. My friend has a low spec laptop; ASUS K53E (i5 2450M, 4 GB RAM [DDR3, 1333MHz], Integrated Graphics [Integrated Intel® GMA HD according to the website]) and I would like to know if it is possible to run Don't Starve. I know he has a serious graphics issue (integrated graphics ftl!) but I would assume a 'low spec' game would still run. I believe he ran Portal 1 and 2 fine, and also some indie games such as Limbo.

Cheers mate. Might give Borderlands and Anno a punt. Loved Borderlands on the PS3, briliant co-op game I spent hours playing locally with a mate. All I'd play in the GTA Complete edition is the two episodes, which I dont think is worth the price. Ill see how I'm feeling though. My first steam sale. Pray for me.
