Steam Xmas Sale 2018

I'm tempted to get Odyssey
If your thinking of picking it up and got a spare 100 points on uplay you can get 20% off. I only paid £20. 8 hrs in and quite enjoying it, this coming from someone who never got on with the previous formula of assassin's creed.
Only thing is I'm not sure if there refund policy is as good as steam. Never tried a refund on uplay.

I'm tempted to get Odyssey. I'm currently completing Witcher 3. I still have GOW + Horizon to play through. Do you think Odyssey beats those games or competes or is a tier below?

I played AC1 and found it SEVERELY lacks in the lore, world building and personality of top-tier games.

I never cared for the earlier Assassin's Creed games, but the latest one intrigued me. I took a chance on it after seeing Mack's review:

Thats bizarre, thats a better graphics card than I have and I run everything smoothly on max settings. AC:Origins and AC:Odyssey are the best 2 games of the entire AC series imo, and last year Origins was my joint game of the year and this year Odyssey is my game of the year. Different strokes for different folks though.

I just left everything on auto and on that terrible fight scene at the beginning it was around 30fps, dropping most settings to high with a few left on very high it was fine, 60-80fps but like I said it didn't look very impressive at all.

The items in your inventory you can't equip, whats was that all about? why are they there?! That's so annoying.

Gameplay wise it feels nothing like typical AC games, and I liked the previous games, they didn't need to go in a new direction. It's almost like they tried to copy Zelda controls and inventory interface, the characters and even the environment look like something out of Ark/Atlas.

I can see the Atari days repeating themselves, the overall quality of games right now is just garbage.

Dirt Rally for a fiver. I rarely refund games however, I felt some of the misplaced obstacles (e.g. a large boulder or a spectator's car parked in locations to deliberately trip you up - e.g. on the outside of a fast turn) also the micro stutter when the stage loads as you drive. Sadly not for me.

If you liked Origins, you'll love Odyysey. IMO it's a fantastic game, but I've always got a hankering for massive open world games.

So true, Odyssey is superb and easily as good as the first one. Would recommend it to anyone as it's got tons of content !

See thats what I mean about different tastes. I own all the AC games, I never finished a single one of them (let alone 100% them), until AC:Origins. Origins was the first AC game that I not only finished but even went on to 100% it. I did the same with Odyssey. Like many many people I felt that the AC games needed a shake up, they had become very stale and although neither Origins nor Odyssey are particularly AC-esque, I do feel that as Games they are far better than the previous incarnations of AC. Everyone has different tastes though for me, Odyssey is without a shadow of a doubt the game of the year for 2018 but for others, Fortnite will be the game of the year, a game that I consider to be an abomination, which just highlights that everyone is different :D

Not really sure about the comparison of Ark/Atlas and Odyssey as looking the same environmentally though. Both Origins and Odyssey look way WAY better than Ark or Atlas, at least on my system they do. No idea why its looking like that on yours or performing like that on yours given that you have a better video card than me (and probably a better PC overall than me).

The main reason I got a refund is when I actually started playing I had no idea how combat worked, it's like they forgot the tutorial, yes something was mentioned aft the start but it wasn't a requirement, you just won after mashing the attack button.

Remember in the old games where it offered you training before you ventured of into the world...... In this you have consult google, goty my a$$.

EDIT: Someone posted a review earlier that said you needed to play 40 hours before this got interesting, and yet the reviewer gave it a good review, that's messed up.

I found it interesting from minute 1, but as I say, different tastes :)

I figured out the combat fairly easily, didnt need to consult google or anything, maybe I am just clever :p , as for goty, yup, I stand by that but only because you will note that I said it was MY game of the year and my game of the year rarely seems to tally with the industry chosen game of the year (just as AC:Origins was MY joint game of the year last year (tied with Divinity Original Sin 2).

I'm not sure I'd waste your breath tbh.

So is Odyssey worth getting over Origins?

Haven't played once since Syndicate and I tend to play a year after release usually but whichever is the better game, I'll get

I have F1 2015,16,17 and 18 and have to say I like 18 the best. More interactive career mode

Is the Division worth it now, with the 2nd one coming soon? I got it on a whim the last sale, but didn't really give it a chance & refunded it. I'm not into multiplayer gaming anymore really, so does it have a good, long storyline?
