Steamguard, absolute garbage

It only works completely properly with certain Intel chipsets I thought. Other than that you have to enter the code every time you reconnect.

For example, I had to do it just there now having restarted Steam.

Nope, works on all platforms. Sounds like you have another problem. =/

I think steam guard is good most people have spent many 100's of pounds on there steam account so a little extra security is good imo.

Agreed, it's nice to have the extra layer of security, just needs a few bugs ironed out.

There is always a trade off between security and convenience. I think Steamguard works superbly as an extra layer of defence for most people, and if it really is so inconvenient for some, they can simply disable it.....

Lol, i don't fark it up at all, the system farks itself up.

I've never logged into steam from another computer. EVERY time steam dc's itself and makes you log back in to the community (i will never understand how the **** it does that) it forces me to put in yet another Steamguard code. Its even done it sometimes when i try to access the damn store!

I must've had to enter a new code from this pc no less than 5 times now. I assume it does what its supposed to do but all this crap on top of it is getting annoying.

your steam install needs to update. reinstall steam or delete your clientregistry.blob file and it will update, you'll need to enter the code once more and then you should be bobby.

I like it, works flawlessly for me on all my machines and gives me an added layer of security without requiring one of the external token jobbies.

If it's user error can someone also explain why I have to type it in EVERY.SINGLE. TIME. I want to go to steam community? I havn't disabled it yet hoping it'll get fixed but it wont be long.

I actually think it's really good!
I do wish that it saved which computers are okay to login with though...

If I login with my Macbook and then login with my PC, I need to check my email each time I login :p

that cant be right

will be bloody annoying if that were the case

i remember reading up on steam guard when it was first announced and i thought it would only ask you for a code each time you login from a new pc

if you already authenticated on one pc it wont ask you again

are you sure when didn't choose authenticate this pc and de-authorize all the others?

Like other members have mentioned, they have put the code in and it simply doesn't work, which means you have to get sent another code to try that and play the waiting game. Putting crap along the lines of "LOL USER ERROR DEFINITELY I DID IT FIRST TIME" is just annoying to say the least. Just because someone people don't experience problems with it doesn't mean that everyone has the same experience.

think its pretty good. what if someone did try to hack it.. then you'd be asking for something like this!
