Stellaris - Paradox Interactive

Range is OP. I have 190k fleet mostly consisting of railguns and tachyon beams (the latter being a bit better due to superior accuracy) Half the enemy fleets get pounded into dust before they've even returned fire.

Depends on who you are fighting, look at their military rating if they're superior to you then you obviously need to build more and tech up. You can mouse over the military rating and see exactly how you compare with numbers, & tech, etc.

Don't even attempt to annoy a fallen empire, they will pound you into space dust in a few turns.

Where do I view their military rating? :o

I assume you get those ships by creating custom jobs? I've just been building destroyers and stuff.

I really need to get my head around how to expand via war or I think I'll have hit a brick wall. Also, this influence thing... Is it the only way to expand borders? It's so restrictive I just can't build enough up.

The 'auto best' ship design is laughable. It just slaps an illogical mixture of your best weaponry into your modules. So for instance, your battleship will have massive railguns along side stormcannons.

All my battleships are long range bruisers, so they stay at the back utilitzing the size of their modules to throw out crazy amounts of firepower. I do the same with destroyers too. I just have one large module and a big fat gun on it. Cruisers and corvettes are there to protect the damage dealers and kill the pesky ships my big cannons can't hit.

In a federation, each member takes it in turns to be the leader, and only the leader can declares war on someone. When you are the leader, members of your federation will rally ships to your main fleet.

At this point your fleet to so big you can typically look at your neighbouring rivals and choose who you want to exterminate (I love that purging sound) :)

Ages lol, it's been out like a month :p

Also try map out your territory with a few Frontier Outposts when you begin new game. The AI is extremely passive and won't be bothered if you start claiming star systems early on.

It's the influence that kills me with those outposts.

Remember you can remove them once you've expanded around them. If you're having influence trouble, declare rivalries - you get a lot of bonus influence for that, and more the more powerful your rival is. (Just don't pick a Fallen Empire.)

Really sorry for all the questions;

How would I expand around outposts? If I remember right, I created one and when I removed it my border shrunk back again?

I enjoy this game, but it really isn't very intuitive.

How would I expand around outposts?

Say you built an FT in a system without a planet to colonize, but you've colonized two or three of the neighboring system. If you then dismantle the FT, it'll remain in your territory. If your unsure just save the game before you do until you get your bearings.

If I remember right, I created one and when I removed it my border shrunk back again?
You need to colonize a planet in that solar system, then dismantle the FT. If there isn't one, you need to seriously consider the value of placing an FT there in the first place as it'll obviously hinder your expansion.

###################

# Important
* Added Defensive Pact diplomatic action that allows you to form a defensive alliance with another empire.
* Non-Aggression Pact, Migration Treaty, Support Independence and Guarantee Independence are now diplomatic actions instead of trade deals.
* Removed embassies and replaced it with Trust. Trust builds over time from having active diplomatic treaties (such as a Non-Aggression Pact or Alliance) and increases opinion by up to +100.
* Federations now vote on wars and new members.
* Federation members now give 20% of their Navy Capacity to the Federation, which makes up the Federation Navy Capacity.
* Federation fleets no longer cost maintenance, but cannot exceed the Federation Navy Capacity in size.
* You can now kick alliance and federation members with a majority vote action.
* Sending a favorable trade deal (such as a gift) will now increase the opinion of the other empire by up to +100
* You can now set a War Philosophy policy. This policy determines what type of wargoals you can use
* Removed War Economy policy

* Border are now Open to everyone by default, but can be Closed through a Diplomatic Action. Empires will Close Borders to Rivals by default and Fallen Empires will never Open Borders
* Happiness is now a linear modifier, with levels above 50% giving bonuses and levels below 50% giving penalties
* All Ship Weapons have had their range doubled
* Added Diplomatic, Opinion, and AI Attitude Map Modes. Map Modes are easily moddable and more can be added through mods, but it will affect the checksum

* Grand Admiral achievement now requires a combined fleet power of 100.000 instead of having dealt 100.000 damage in a ship combat
* Alliances and Federations can now vote to kick a member. For the vote to be successful, ( 50% of members + 1 ) need to vote yes (so 3 members in an alliance of 4, for example)

* Strike Craft ship count increased from 4 to 8, and damage has been rescaled accordingly
* Galactic Ambitions technology no longer provides Survey Data for empires you have contacted

# New - Wargoals

* Abandon Planet: If your policies allow Purging you can force an enemy to abandon a planet, killing all pops on that planet in the process
* Humiliate: You can humiliate enemy empires, making them suffer a negative modifier for a time and giving you a chunk of influence
* Open Borders: Forces the other Empire to open their borders to you for 10 years
* Stop Atrocity: Forces the other Empire to ban slavery and purging

# New - Space Nomads
* Nomads have been completely reworked and expanded for the mid-game
* This non-player faction travels from one end of the galaxy to the other, encountering empires and triggering events

I just won my first game as the 'Scyldari Confederacy'. There were some pretty epic space battles. I would say the AI in this game is great and I really love the tech tree. I think I will go with a Military dictatorship next time.

Anyone worked out how to apply attachments to troop units en-masse? major pain in the ass having to click on each individual army unit to attach my commandos.

Default sized map, hyperspace only.

I can't wait to come back to this once the 1.3 patch comes out and the dlc going to much better the biggest problem they need to sort after that is that every empire feels like a carbon copy of each other

Well I'm enjoying, played a little on release but picked back up just recently.

Solid experience so far.

Still doesn't best my fond memories of "Distant Worlds", but then DW is showing its age and tougher to play.

Anyone excited for the Update 1.5?

For those who don't follow, the internal and end game politics & paths to victory are becoming much much better.

And includes a big series of changes and improvements

Hell, it even has the mechanics now, the population you or the AI will try to purge (or the race) , will try to become refugees and run off to a more welcome empire...... Hating ofc the one who tried to commit genocide on them and creating relevant factions etc...

Also full robotic race/empire through transcendence can be possible :D
