Steve Jobs has died. What effect, if any, will it have on Apple and the tech industry?

I don't know if you really know what you're blabbing on about. When Apple release their products they change the tech industry for the better as competitors have to constantly up their game, copy ideas etc to compete. How many other companies can you say that about.

copy ideas? its apple that has been copying ideas since teh dawn of time. notifcations on the new ios5. Siri voice commands? WOW as if i have NEVER seen or used any of those on my android device

Android in it's entirety is a copy of iOS for goodness sake. It's developed a lot more now but the base it's built on is very much influenced by iOS.

You're really, really clueless.

It's not a straight copy though. They actually fully integrate it as well as taking the idea and making it work properly in a useful way for consumers.

There's very little new ideas these days, most things have been done in one form or another for years if not decades. What apple does is take those initial ideas fully integrates it and implements it in a useful way for consumers.

It's not good enough having cloud computing like dropbox, it's to geeky. But implement it like apple has or how it's implemented in w8 and suddenly you have a very different feature.

That's coming from someone who has a dropbox subscription.

Wrong.

Market share isn't a fair comparison in this case. It's the old Ford vs Aston Martin argument again.

True.

But as a DEV point of view. If i was to make a mobile APP. And seen the number for how many people own an Android phone to an Apple one. I know i would be learning Java :p

a lot more customers.

They are down in market share already from earlier this year :p

How did you figure that, or are you using figures including windows mobile.
Interesting that slide has also stopped. Sales of w7p are now equal or more than the loss in the windows mobile Market.

W7p is on the rise. It's now hit 7% in USA and is only recently been available on verizon.

Forecast is for a 5% marketshare by the end of q4, so also a net increase in global terms.
windows will increase it's Market share.

fully intergrate what? notifications? how? its a straight copy and paste job with an apple logo slapped on it from what i can see. Your telling me that the android notifications system is too geeky? really?

Unless your talking about something completely different. don even know where dropbox came into this equation

I wasn't talking about notification.

But everything which is where drop box came into it. Things like cloud storage, media purchases, Siri and everything else.

Apple take existing stuff(just like all companies, nothing new in android or windows either), fully integrate it and at the same time also improve the capabilities.

Closed Source Monopolising ****s, All marketing and **** all development, sueing innocent companies who don't infringe on their patents but they insist do, Charging extortionate amounts for their software which really isn't worth it, BSODs, Vista...

I can go on but I'm afraid if I do I'll never stop until death comes to give me that £100 he owes me!

You're right, they just lifted most of that out of Symbian.

You don't have a clue what you're talking about, you're clueless. You know nothing, you're just here to try and put across a stupid point that you don't even understand yourself.

Did you just explain what most big companies are like?

Most of those reasons can be put back on apple, frankly.
