stop using companies that use dpd

It's a real shame our own standards in this country are so slow, to the point we think a delivery company delivering a parcel counts as good service. That's not good service, it's doing the bare minimum.

What counts as good, is how they respond when something goes wrong.

DPD don't answer the phone, they don't reply to messages over whatsapp or social media, they have online chat with 1hr+ queues and then cut you off.

If they are the best, then damn!

No, being able to deliver a parcel on time when they say they are going to, makes it a good service. That I have never had to call DPD or whatsapp etc. is whats makes them good. How a company deals with problems when they arise can make them great or terrible for you but if you dont have any problems because they get it right 100% of the time then of course they can be considered good. People can only go by their own experience. If a few have a bad experience, it doesnt make it a universally poor company when many never have any issues at all

I'm normally fine with DPD, always seemed reliable. Then I recently order from the official Nintendo store and they use DPD... I paid for express delivery, so should take 1-2 days. Ordered Monday and it's currently stuck in Birmingham saying "There's a delay with your parcel at our sortation facility", and this was from Wednesday at 12:01.

This seems like a one off though as I've ordered from Nintendo before and received the order the next day with DPD.

There must have been an issue there over the past couple of days. Ordered a Ninja Air Fryer the other day and it got held up with the same message. Due for delivery in about half an hour, though.

@LCG-xyz When I ported recently I waited to enter the PACs until I had the new sims for exactly this reason.

Are you able to get a PAYG sim to tide you over at least?

Wish some couriers understand that I have to go downstairs and open two doors - door to flat and communal external door to get parcels!

They think we sit by the front door!

That's what I'm saying. Our expectations are so low, we think that's being good. If I'm paying for next day, I expect it to come next day. These days, I think we're just relieved if it comes next day, or even the day after

They have 150-200 parcels to deliver a day. They do not have time to wait for you to move your backside. If I am in and know what time the delivery is going to be I at least try and be ready for when they come. With DPD you can track very accurately so you could theoretically be at the door for when they come.

The problem with these companies is it is coming up to Christmas and they are already at a massive shortage. All these strikes do not help either. If you really need something either go to a shop and buy it or do click and collect and get it in your own time.

It sounds like one of those cases where it fell down the cracks somewhere its on the seller to make sure it reaches the courier correctly I'd be yelling at them rather than the other. As for calls centre thats just the norm everywhere these days even tried to call my bank last night over a lost card spent 30 minutes on hold before I got to speak to anyone, luckily it was an 0800 freephone number but thats being retired shortly for one where you have pay national rate call charges. Did actually spend 40 minutes on hold trying to get hold of someone at the mortgage company last week before the line hung up on its own and I did have to pay for that one

DPD are currently letting me down badly. I sent a return to OCUK last week. It should have arrived on Monday. It has yet to arrive. It is currently being held in their Stoke depot.

Deliveries are exemplary, returns not so much they're lower priority presumably.

My friend posted a parcel to me last Thursday from Manchester using RM Tracked 24. I will be receiving the parcel TODAY!

I got an email from a retailer on a weds or thurs saying it was out for despatch, RM tracking said it was on the way from the company, at least they acknowledged it... that didn't change until friday when they said they'd received it and would be out for despatch monday... in the event it turned up on wednesday.

Ordered something from OCuk thursday night/friday was told by DPD it would arrive monday as I didn't pay extra for w/e delivery, in the event it arrived saturday anyway. Impressive.

That's not good service, that's just providing the service they've been paid for.
Like when waiting staff expect a tip and they've literally just done their job by taking the order and then bringing it to the table, again that's just the service they're paid for.

You do realise RM have been on strike recently quite a lot?

Trackable one hour delivery slots with DPD are awesome.three deliveries from them this week alone, everyone I opened the door as he pulled up.
Evri, hit and miss, depends on the local courier apparently
RM, *****.

I'm so annoyed. Just venting.

All dpd had to do was deliver a SIM card, I was switching to a new provider.

Vodafone ported my number and my service with Three ended. 'Just pop the new SIM card in'

What SIM card? Dpd never delivered it, they never even scanned it. According to their automated system they haven't got it. According to the vendor, they have.

So I'm disabled, live on my own and have no phone and it'll take 3-5 working days to send another sim. Tried to install app for wifi calling, verification code is via sms, which I can't get.

It's awful.

Dpd put up walls, they don't want to talk to people.

Phone number, automated no way to get through. 'Let's chat' - chatbot no way to talk to a person.

Terrible company.
Sorry to hear you're having problems with DPD, but as others have said they're normally one of the best couriers*.

If DPD don't have a record of having scanned the item into their system there is probably a 50/50 chance of it being down to them or down to Vodaphone, either not scanned onto the van or the driver didn't get some of the paperwork when loading, or it simply wasn't handed over.
I've had packages arrive in the past from Amazon for example that had my order in a big box but someone else's small order for the same area inside it (it looked like the card shipping envelope had fallen into my huge box before it had been sealed - I dropped it as it was just a couple of streets away).
Hopefully your card will arrive tomorrow if it's potentially been missed when the van's been loaded or unloaded.

*I rate them well above UPS who are/were a premier courier, but never seem to update their tracking and can still be showing "your delivery is expected by 6pm" at 1am the day after (I swear their system updates about 18 hours behind).

If you can get to a Vodafone store they can issue and connect a SIM right there and then for you.

It is when they send you an email or provide an app that tells you within the hour when it’s going to be delivered or you can rearrange the delivery without any hassle. Some couriers can’t even say what half the day the delivery is going to be
