Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Me and Arth are currently having a session with a 16500 BP Balrog who is an absolute beast lol. We couldn't even get a round against him, until I took a game, you see that Arth? That's how you do it lol, it's a best out of 5 rounds aswel so don't call it fluke :p One of the best Balrogs I've played though, oh Arth just took another hiding, my turn again :eek:
 
Yea, he's pretty damn good.
I actually laughed out loud when you beat him and slapped my hands together.
He jumped a hell of a lot though, and sometimes just sat back. Punish those jump-ins, be more patient, and dont be the one who always has to do something - that would've made the fights against him a hell of a lot less one-sided. I take ages to adjust to opponents tho -.-

Yes, i took another hiding from the Rog, which i promptly transferred to you after he left ;)

There's adjusting but sometimes it's so obvious that no amount of adjusting will help because your opponent is in a different league altogether, like this guy was. I've played LOADS of Balrogs, good ones too, but it was like I was playing this guy with one arm tied behind my back because nothing I was doing had any effect. He was alway's in full control of the game, I couldn't even get a jab out without him punishing me with a massive combo. You are normally very accurate with your combos but because of the amount of pressure this guy exerts, I noticed you missing far more then you do against me! You took a very nice round of him though, finishing it with a cr.mk > ex. fireball > fadc > ultra, not bad under pressure lol


BTW it's great starting off with 0 BP in ranked mode and working your way up, I played a 6k Ken and 8K Ryu, and quite a few other 4-5k players and handed their backside to them lol, shot up to over 1500k in no time! When they see you are under 1k points they take it a bit easy first round and you can sense they are sweating in round 2. :p

I distinctly remember beating your Akuma at least 2 times, your Ryu aswel a few times! It was pretty even today...

There's no doubt he's leagues ahead of us. What i mean is that i was fully aware of exactly what he was doing - frame traps, safe 'meaty' pokes into combos after knockdown. It's just that we rarely play against players who even do those 'pro fundamentals' so yea we'd get owned, but after getting experience against that, it would be far less one-sided.


BP means squat diddly btw ;)
PP is what counts. I don't play randoms much, but generally i'd say over 3k = quite good, over 4k = great.
That Rog was about 4.5k if i remember right.


Yea i remembered afterwards, you did beat my Akuma in the first fight after the guy left. I er.. erm.. let's see.. I didn't know someone else would join the lobby, so i didn't try hard at all, thinking i could lose and fight again instead of waiting. So yea, that's why after that one, i started winning the rest.. yea, that's it.
 
I am available to play between 6-7pm, I've got footy at 8 so will have to shoot off before then. Set my xbox up on my PC monitor so wll be playing with no sound atm as the xbox isn't (and I don't think can) connect to my PC speakers. I will check back in here at 6ish to see if anyone wants to play... :)

The monitor itself is really nice, 24" widescreen, but it's a few years old now so lacking HDMI and the monitor has no audio output.

Testing the HDMI>VGA converter now... signing on in a few mins.

If anyone can help regarding the xbox to monitor sound issue please post in here...

I think it's the first time I have ever played without sound but I realised I could concentrate more on the games, odd. I would still prefer sound though even if it's only on very low vol. Good games though, nice tactical decision sticking to Cammy for a few in a row... :mad::p

Scroll down until you see pictures. The coupler is what i'm talking about. Sounds like you might also need the 3.5mm to phono?

BTW I have ordered another TE stick, for the 360, boxed as new in good condition with little use, for £57 delivered! I did not need it at all BUT it saves me having my current stick modded with a home button and saves the need for a wireless mic, instead I can keep one stick downstairs with the PS3 and one upstairs with the 360. :p I remember the time when TE sticks were difficult to get hold off for under £100 hence I went for the dual mod on my current one but 57 delivered I thought was a good price for what I think is an awesome stick. With MK and 3rd strike on the way they will both definately be getting good usage. :D

I was on form last session vs Arth, but still tryna figure out Ravs dhalsim. We need to get some tourny modes going with 4 of us, everyone gets a regular game that way too.
 
Adz, do you have Skype?

You can plug in your xbox controller to your pc, and use the mic to chat.

It'd be a good way to chat so you can hear me complain when i get hit by your focus attacks :)

Plus i wanna talk to you about your mid-range game. Like i said before, your execution is good, but you could be so much better if you played better footsies, and Art and I could help you improve.

Since we're talking about Adz's play.. :p

I'm sure you're aware of the fact that Ryu's EX fireball can be followed with Ultra when you catch your opponent with it in the corner.
Ryu can be half screen from the corner, and still have the Ultra connect.
You'll follow up with an Ultra when you do cr.mk -> EX fireball on your opponent's wakeup, but never when you catch them with it in other situations.
After you do the EX fireball, do the joystick motion for Ultra. If you see it connect, press PPP. If not, do your favourite crouching roundhouse :p

The other thing is your crouching jab/short strings aren't followed up by anything, such as dragon punch or fireball, or even HK sweep. They'll at least net you a knockdown, chip damage, and/or super meter.



I'm in need of critiquing myself as my play feels as though it has either stagnated, or gotten worse. So i'd better get some feedback the next time i play any of you!
