Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Ryu's best hit confirm off a jump would be
J.hp c.Mp cs.Hp dp FADC ultra I for 493 damage

It's not an easy combo though.

I've just spent a few minutes in training mode and your combo does tiny damage for the meter use, check out the following I came up with (you know how to play ryu so you may easily find better ones):

1 - jmk clp clp clp cmk exfb FADC Ultra - 1 Ultra, 3 super, 332 damage
2 - jhp cmp cmp dp fadc ultra - 1 ultra, 2 super, 463 damage
3 - jhp chp dp fadc ultra - 1 ultra, 2 super, 497 damage
4 - jhp cmp chp dp fadc ultra - 1 ultra, 2 super, 487 damage

Note: all combo's can have jhp replaced with jmk when crossing up and they still work.

1 is your combo, 2 is a very, very easy replacement hit confirm for nearly 50% more damage for 1 less meter and using 3 frame links.

3 is the combo to use if you're good at hit confirming or going to fadc anyway.

4 is my recommended replacement using a 2 frame plink.

I assume you did your combo though because you always do exfb in a combo regardless of whether it hits or not so your hit confirm is actually 6 moves long, the norm is 2!

Nice, adds a bit more damage to my combo 4 there. Does it work on crouchers though, as most people you hit with jhp will be crouching.

Just started playing some sf4. Am i too late to start ?? Im uber newb. :)

Practise like hell. I woult tend to pick any character you like the look of as you will enjoy playing more that way, although a shoto like Ryu is not a bad choice like Kreeee says to learn the basics. I think SSF4 is still challenging to become good at (I dont really class myself as good compared to most people I play) regardless of how "easy" it is.

Good games to DrSK earlier. Practise your spacing and zoning and your Ryu will improve.

No one I've come across from OcUK is even remotely approaching half decent imo (including me before you start, I am still very much firmly in the scrub camp). We all have a very long way to go.

It is very easy though, not sure why you put that in quotes as I don't think anyone has ever disputed it.

That's great damage from a hit confirm, 2 frame plink combo. I don't use Ryu, so I'm not sure on the range of his cshp, is it pretty tight or can you do it off a slightly wide jump in?

Yep ggs. Forgot how strong ur ryu is. Iv improved a lot with him but I agree, i m too aggressive withhim. Maybe evil ryu is my ideal char.

Guys im having lot of trouble going from clp in dp- its very important for ryu n ken, uts justsuch a tricky motion to do clp clp heavy dp. Any tips- do I need to use shortcut for dp?

dflp dflp d dfhp

It's range isn't very good I get far fierce too often for me to try it, But the cr.mp cs.hp does give you more damage from the solar plexus than just cr.hp.

Looks like it's not worth the risk for the 6 extra damage (1% extra damage) if it fails even 1 in 100 tries. Plus cmp chp~cmp gives you cmp cmp if you really balls it up with is still good for the combo.

not really. but its easy with the short cut. the way i do it is hold d/f while do jabs slowly, and do d/b, d/f, hp on the last jab.

the key is to do the jabs slowly, link it not chain it, because if you mash jab too quickly, dp wont come out, since chains has the highest input priority in the game and you cant cancel from chains. capcom did this to stop people mashing out random jabs into dp combos, but you can still do it by delaying the last jab or with kara canceling.

evil ryu is a downgraded version of akuma. but he looks like he can deal good damage and has some good pressure tools. i dont think he is that good though and neither do this guy(who happened to knock out team usa in sbo, the biggest acrade tourney in the world):

Good few games earlier salu and distorted, some TIGHT games vs distorted there lol, I am much better at reading you now then I use to be.

GGs in the tourny earlier aswel to those who were in and well played Kenny with Balrog, thats the first time I've seen that infinite loop online. Glad I got my league games done with you, feel free to let Balrog out the cage now. :D

Balrog doesn't have an infinite loop.

He has an ex upper loop which every Balrog should be using as part of his staple game.

Well it's infinite in training mode isnt it? You obviously can't do it infinite in game as you run out of ex bars but he maxed it out and it always looks impressive.

Air does feel that E Ryu is better than stock Ryu in AE however which is interesting.

i thought you hated ssf4? yeah the bison ultra nerf is stupid. who could you be playing then?

I do dislike a lot about it but it's still fun enough, from what I read ages ago Balrog is terrible now? I don't think I'll play much but will stick with somebody solid enough I guess. I might get it on PC when it comes out.

Balrog has had 20hp damage reduction on his head-but and it has greater recovery, hitbox nerf on his jhp, Ultra juggle now does even less damage,, his csmp now forces stand... which has proven useless and it has a damage reduction, lp no longer hit crouching characters.

He's basically the same character but toned down slightly, he definitely needed a few nerfs to balance him out. Brain-dead jabs into derp ultra should never do huge damage, he's just been changed so his risk-reward is fair now.

Oh cool that is nowhere near as bad as I thought it sounded, somebody said the headbutt doesn't even go through fireballs anymore, that's not true right?

Head-but properties are unchanged. Whoever told you that is an idiot.

Your Balrog is pants though, your Bison was much better.

Haha I did think that was a bit far.

I'll give Bison a go still, not really looked at his changes but I don't like the change to his ultra. I'm going to end up getting embarassing teleports all over again!
