Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

http://www.mmcafe.com/tiermaker/ssf...e86nlncdkue0b0jqgbgb94i6-bkg-naEnd of AE 2012

Since AE is almost over for PC I put this together based on experiences playing online and offline as well as being a spectator, what do you think?

SS - Cammy, Akuma, Fei Long, Viper, Seth
S - Sagat, Ibuki, Sakura, Adon, Evil Ryu, Balrog
A - Yun, Rufus, Makoto, Zangief, Ryu, Oni, Gen, Dudley
B - Ken, Guile, Gouken, Yang, Abel, Cody, Dhalsim, Guy, Bison, Rose, Chun-Li, Juri, Honda, Vega
C - Blanka, T.Hawk, Hakan, El Fuerte, DeeJay

The way I approached it is characters on the left tend to have some glaring issues such as Seth's health or poor wake-up, some really bad match-ups, slow walk speed, low damage, big hurtboxes, bad comeback potential, etc and as it moves across to the right they are generally well rounded despite being in lower tiers. Characters on the right may also suffer some of these things to a lesser degree but their plus points can outweigh them, characters on the left can also have some things that help boost them up despite maybe being far across that side. (like Dudley's damage and stun potential to me outweighs difficulty vs. low pokes putting him in a higher tier)

I wasn't totally sure about about the C tier characters because I don't see much of them but I think most agree Blanka, Hakan, T.Hawk and DeeJay have it pretty rough.

In other news I've been trying to get into KOF XIII but it has been a bit daunting because of having to learn 3 characters, kinda like MvC3 in that way but KOF is much stricter when it comes to inputs and combos. Is anyone else a fan?

Lol I remember that game and that one round actually sums up quite nicely why I find it very frustrating playing Dudley. Plus I missed a few ultras in that little session we had :/

I wanna upload the next 5 games which I won straight but I can't be bothered...

;)

Ok I just jumped onto USFIV, doing trials and what not, thought Id go with Guile for a bit.
Then jumped into ranked play.

Screw me, the lag is unbelievable, I swear its gotten worse since SF4.

Am I right in assuming its even worse if you are joining rather than hosting?

Also, I assume Guile has just been nerfed big time SSF4/AE?

Disclaimer: Im very much a beginner at this game in comparison to all of you vets!

Guile got better over his vanilla version. USFIV is meant to be a bit iffy with "waiting for players" popping up sometimes but I think they mentioned that is being addressed in the upcoming patch, were you playing on PS3? A lot of people chastise PSN and the input delay on PS3 so maybe that is playing a role.

I was pretty surprised how useless low forward looks in that video but it has annoyed me plenty of times before. :p
I'll be in Switzerland that weekend.
Oh darn, well if you play Ultra or KOF on Steam let me know, I might also be going to the new Capcom Pro Tour event in London in Sept.

Yes precisely, input delay was just ridiculous, but Im thinking if that's even a valid excuse, because I mustve lost 20 games yesterday and won only one.

I really want to up my game, probably such a vague question to ask, but is there any resource that can help me with developing my game, combos, option selects etc etc?

Was thinking of picking up the USF4 Brady guide to get me off the guide (sin?)

Or is it down to just pure old fashion training stage?

Cav, do you play on the PC? I found online horrible on the ps3, it was miles better on the 360. The PC version wasn't too bad until the recent update but I'd advise just playing more if you want to improve. I still use a bit of Guile and find you can do quite well with him with just the very basics - send out loads of sonic booms and use cr. hp as an anti air to keep your opponent out. If you play on the PC let's get some games on? :)

Cheers Adz, no I don't have the PC version unfortunately.
I just used the digital upgrade on the PS3 since I have SSF4. I preordered the full PS3 version as well (see below), but may end up cancelling it. Is the PC version better then?

Incidentally will they add all the trials, intros etc to the digital version when the full version is released? Or is that only available on the full version?

Concerning Guile, yep I hear what you're saying. Im literally starting from scratch, "unlearning what I learned" :D And trying to adapt a different mindset when approaching games as Guile, but as I said earlier, I want to expand my portfolio as its boring just using one character.

PC version seems fixed now, when it first came out it was hellish but I haven't really had any problems in the last 2-3 weeks, the only issue is the connection bars are busted when people first connect, they join and it says full green but after the first game the bars update properly, it's annoying to have people join from flagless countries and then discover they were actually from China but had a green set of bars...

Cheers DC. So are you all pretty much playing it on PC then I take it?

Also, on another note...

I don't know how, but I came across a website which was selling street fighter tshirts/sweatshirts which had logos on them similar to that of the NBA, MLB etc, but I have since lost the website (and cannot find it via history).

I have seen a tshirt with a Shoryuken by Ken I believe, what I wanted to ask, has anyone happened across these or others similar to this but for other characters?

if you buy the Ultra disc you get them "free". Other than that because some of them are so distracting you always win - blanka alt 3 I think is the worst.

DC - Dudleys Ultra Alt costume is pretty sweet.
Really like Gouken's / Guile's as well.

Why is Cammy's lame :(

Haha yeah I like it as well, looks fab!

I always buy the costumes just to support Capcom because I've had so many hours from their fighting games, want them to keep at it. Maybe we'll get guard crush and parry in USFIV Turbo ;) I will be there day one for KOF XIV as well, XIII left a really good impression on me.

I've been double plinking lately which makes playing the game kind of tiring tbh but it does work well, really excited to play Ultra Dudley since some of the changes are big buffs to the way I play, and picking up Hugo as a secondary I think, didn't like previous grapplers that much although T.Hawk is pretty fun in Ultra, I like that Hugo has more combo options than the others and some interesting normals.

A bit disappointed they didn't buff characters like Bison very much, I enjoyed playing him for a bit in Super when he had QCF ultra but his damage and combos are really sub-par.

I think quite a lot here play on both PC and 360, with Ultra out tomorrow on PC I would guess a lot of people will come back to PC since I know a lot of people personally went to 360 again just because they didn't want to wait for PC release.

I plan on picking up a 360 again soon to catch up on some other games and play 360 people, I just need to find out if I can log on to my university's wifi/wired with one, it requires a login portal so I'm hoping you can access that via IE

360 version is the best imo, the PC version is a little slower and the calibre of players aren't as good

There's a lot of very good PC players even now without Ultra being out, many are getting the PC version on Friday including Valle and PR Rog. (not that I'd want to play USA connections :p)

Apparently if you turn off v-sync on PC, the timing is identical to 360. As for netcode I always felt PC was on par or better.

XBOX 360 input timing (2 frames faster than other versions) only matches one other version.........PC with V-Sync turned off. V-Sync off is NOT the Arcade standard or the proper way to play. V-Sync greatly affects the visual input timing and with it off or not working properly (360) we get random timings for doing our visual links. So basically the Xbox runs a little faster than the other versions but it pays for it with inconsistent timing (especially 1 frame links) and throwing people coming from Arcade, PS3, and PC off.

http://forums.shoryuken.com/discuss...eries-has-different-timing-from-arcade-ps3-pc

I take this info with a huge grain of salt because I used to switch between 360 and PC all the time with no problem, the PS3 versions of Marvel and SFIV feel really delayed in comparison.

I get horrible screen tearing with V Sync off

That's the trade off :p

I don't really mind it because you're not moving the camera around, otherwise tearing does drive me crazy. PC with v-sync on is meant to match arcade but again this ain't an exact science.

Maybe it's worth trying adaptive v-sync mode but since I always use 1f and 2f links I'm happy just turning it off entirely to avoid risk.

Look forward to finding Alioune. :D
