Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Enjoying it more and more as I get into this game now starting to win a lot more ranked games and getting better with dhalsim, using his v-skill then straight into teleport + Hp seems to work really well ! thinking of maybe trying bison though as a second character ...

Still using the d pad , but I find after an hour or so my left hand goes really stiff and aches and I struggle pulling off moves :( are the sticks a lot comfier to use when gaming over a longer period ? Really thinking of getting one when I can afford

A lot of that makes sense, thanks you two. I get why the crush counters are hitting now. I have a bad habit of relying on tapping lp or lk, crouching or otherwise, to pressure. Obviously a decent player blocks and times a cc on me.

With command throws like Laura's, should I look to combo into it? I'll try on training, but something like lp elbow into the throw? At the minute, I only really land if I get the knockdown, charge clap and cross up into it. I feel exposed crossing up to uppercuts though.

Trying to avoid being a jumper, jump hk, cr hk Ryu player like I used to be!

you cant go for a charged fireball mixup unless its a cc sweep or if you know they not quick or back get up because you dont have enough time to set up if they do.

one common mixup that works on all noobs (especially the non mashing ones) is after lp elbow hit do command throw. it will get them every time since they will think you are still attacking so they will just hold down back. but its risky because they predict it and neutral jump, they can do a full jump combo.

a safer option would be do normal throw and input the uppercut right after. what will happens is you will throw, if throw hit or teched, thats fine. but if they jump out of the throw, the uppercut will come out as throw animation finish and snatch them from the skies as soon as they jump. this work especially if they are cornered, since they cant back tech.

the best way to play laura is dont rely on throws, play ground game with your fireball and speed, fish for counter hit when you get close. and try to land a combo ending with mp elbow or ex fireball to get knock downs and resets. after a knock downs its best to go for meaty setups to get counter hit combos that leads to aother knock down. you can vary all the options (meaty, charged fireballs, cross up and throw) once you got a good read on your opponent. she is the only character in this game that can do marvel style mixups on people, so sure you make it count when you get in.

if you can get a few good reads in a row you will get a easy dizzy.

btw sweeps are bad in this game, easy to punish, low reward, so dont do it much.

Yeah I think I've about got the read on this one. I tend to drop a clap (not charged) and then cr mk poke if they're blocking high. I played a couple of people yesterday who never quick rise, so they were always on the receiving end of charged claps!

Yeah that's where I thought it would work best. I try using the lp elbow as a bit of a poke now, see how they react. It caught a few auto shoryukens out last night that I punished with hp target into hp elbow.

Will have to practice this then.

That's good - I feel like this is how I try to play her, so at least I'm along the right lines. My real difficulties have just been deciding on the right play, nutcases who are constantly jumping, tatsu, crossups etc where I can't get my AA moves out to punish (my own poor execution really) or people really turtling me out of range. I suppose that's a patience thing - wait until I can get in close and then really punish. You're right - she easily gets people into stun!

Thanks for your help.

dont punish blocked dps with just foward hp inot uppercut. do standing hp into fireball (the hp will cc and the fireball will combo late), crouch hp in mp elbow, or v trigger into a bigger combo. this do more damage than a jump combo so they will never dp again

I played this again today and got bored after about 4 games, met my first rage quitter n all. If any of you guys want to play I'll be on throughout the day tomorrow, I'm just using Ryu atm as I'm not very good at this. I suppose I learnt SF4 by getting beat by better players, you eventually do learn and you start closing the gap, a bit.

Is it time for an ocuk tournament yet? :D

I've just got the chun li mad catz stick yesterday :D it's ace ! Much easier to pull off combos and ex moves , and my hand doesn't ache after half an hour like it does holding the ds4 , happy days ! Just need to get some practice in with bison now as I've just swapped to him from dhalsim :)

Does anyone know when in March the update is coming ??
