Streets of Rage 4

So just trying to play for the first time and setup Gamepad. It won't support a bunch of them. I'm trying with an official Sega Saturn USB and no luck.

Steam or xbox app???

The steam version plays great on my madcats tournament edition fightstick. Everything works straight away just plug and play, all the buttons in the right place and correctly picked up in game.

My friend couldn't even get his fight stick to in the detected in the xbox app version.

Also if anyone has an arcade fightstick from street fighter or whatever, I suggest you use it. So much fun on street of rage.

completed the 2nd stage, its harder for me cuz im playing with a 6 year old that may as well just be another enemy on screen lol.

graphics are awsome, im using the bloom shader and the neons really pop with it. characters are diverse enough that they are deffo worth playing with each one since the styles are unique.
graphics have multiple parallax scrolling backgrounds very immersive with good details drawn out.
audio is good sounds like the original tracks got remixed and far better quality compared to old 8bit audio.
i running it on my shield tv via gamestream and its excellent. looks like the game supports more than 2 players, i got one nvidia shield controller and one 8bitdo sfc30 doing the job. need to connect the other pads and get the wife on it too.

It's £1 for a month or £3 for 3 months.

Just download the xbox beta app to your desktop and go from there.

Remember to immediately cancel the subscription renewal by following the link on the confirmation email if not you get billed every month at full price.

I do this every month. So far I have had it for 9 months at £1 ago. Well worth it, there is tons of content and games on there.

If you had it for like 3 months and downloaded and played games, after 3 months say you cancelled your subscription do you loose all the games you had on it ?

Thanks for the tip about the bloom, I have added it now.

I also like the retro sound track enabled with volume turned up.

My friend just sent me screen shot of the xbox xpp version and it doesn't look like it has any of the graphics settings that the steam version does.

Looks like steam has about 15 extra settings to play with.

I haven't had chance to try all the settings yet anything else you suggest changing?

The pass is pretty good you can leave it for a few months and come back to it when it's on offer for a £1 and carry on where you left off.

the rest are just graphics settings to adjust performance. i got it set to ultra so everything is maxed out.
im guessing it should run at full speed even on a 8800gt.

Finished level 2, tbh I kinda hate the game. It's just too different to SoR2. Some enemies are just so annoying to bother with. Glad I didn't pay for this

As soon as I beat up the first few enemies I really liked the game.

It feels like the remake but better graphics, smoother game play and cool new moves and combos.

Well impressed with this - exactly what I was expecting. They do need some optimisation on the coop though as it was a bit jerky in places still playable though.

I'm on level 7 now and all I'll say is I'm now very happy with the character roster despite my earlier complaints.

Happy to say game gets better as you play through, and the background graphics style has grown on me a lot. Some of the line drawing allows for animations and effects that have more detail than pixel art, there is also a lot more variation than I gave it credit for, though still a lot of grey colour used.

Interesting that the Steam version has more graphics options, clearly the version to get but Xbox game pass version still works great for me with Xbox 1 controller. I will buy it on Steam in a sale though.

Best thing for me is they really have improved the fighting gameplay while keeping it true to the originals, there's potential for it to be the best SoR game overall.

As for level 2, there is a very annoying enemy they overuse on that level, but you don't even have to fight them all, since then it's been great.

Picked this up for "5 mins" this morning to give it a whirl and get the nostalgia going and well... 2 hours later I had to pull myself away from it as I had to start work! Got to stage 5 and everything about it I love. The soundtrack, the art work, even the controls make me feel like I just played SoR yesterday. Will probably complete it later and then play it again with each character.

Going to give it another go later today and try different characters. Booted up SoR2 last night and was playing on hardest setting, bit rusty so lost three lives getting up to lvl 5. Remember 6 & 7 really ramps up difficulty.

Completed last night on normal, I thought it was great overall. The second half of the game really picks up and feels much better, you have to start using your head a little along with all the tools you have available.

Had a funny moment where I was trying to lure some enemies under a chandelier that you can drop by chopping a rope on the wall, they weren't falling for it and avoided the area. I then moved closer and threw my weapon in an attempt to goad them over, instead one of the enemies caught it, ran straight to the rope on their side, chopped it and dropped the thing on me :D

I'm loving this so far. Using a Mega Drive pad from my Mega Drive mini really adds to the nostalgia. Got to level 12 last night on story mode without dying but couldn't get passed that level. Normal difficulty but it really ramps up at that stage. Had a couple of tries but had to turn off because wife wanted to go bed and she didn't want me to finish without her :p

Completed it last night on normal and it's a great game overall that is true to the originals along with some French flair and weirdness that really adds something extra.

You can tell they were being restrained overall but there's an artistic themed level where they really let the imagination flow and it somehow works in the SoR context.

As for playing with old graphics I think it's only the original sprites still on the new style backgrounds, but as someone who didn't like the new style graphics in screenshots, they actually look a lot better playing it.

This along with Mother Russia Bleeds, France is putting out some really good new beat em ups, always loved this genre going all the way back to Double Dragon, hopefully we'll see a lot more games like this.
