A mate of mine has made a number of well reasoned postings on social media as to how there is too much hype and hysteria about this story and how other players did not receive long bans for what he considers to be similar acts. Obviously him being a hard core Liverpool fan is not influencing his position in the slightest...

"LS is regarded as having breached article 48 paragraph 1 of the Fifa disciplinary code, and article 57. He is to be suspended for nine official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming Fifa World Cup game between Uruguay and Colombia." The nine-match ban is from all internationals.

There's also a four-month ban from all football, according to article 22 of the Fifa disciplinary code. And a ban from all football stadiums while matches are in progress, according to article 21. Plus a fine of 100,000 Swiss franks.

A four month ban means the next time Suarez will play football will be on Nov 1st against...Newcastle.

Pretty pathetic punishment for a 3rd offence!

No surprise though tbh, I have no faith nor confidence in FIFA at the best of times, I'm surprised they were not more lenient tbh!

I'm very much enjoying some of the social media mockery of him though! :p

I'd like to have seen a clause to make him attend therapy put in there but tbh I'm shocked FIFA even banned him for the four months.

Meh, that will do. There was no need to ban him for life or years. The thing with a deterrent is that even something like the death penalty doesn't stop idiots. 99.9% of people don't even need to know that you will be in trouble if you bit someone as it doesn't occur to them to do it in the first place.

I now look forward to the Uruguay press' outrage.

"Any footballing related activity including administrative actions."

Does that mean he's not allowed to sign any contracts or make a transfer?

What a joke, a long sus is fine but this was not while he was playing for Liverpool and the club had no control or responsibiluty, FIFA really are clowns
