Signed that contract with a huge buyout clause which would be reasonable for Barca/Real to pay given his performances/behaviour and then he bites someone meaning they aren't likely to meet the huge buyout fee now?

Someone I work with was suspended for 7 weeks on full pay while an investigation took place into an incident. He came back a mental wreck. It's not as simple as sitting at home picking up money for nothing.

I assume your mate was getting paid a few hundred thousand / month and had other companies waiting to pay him even more at the first opportunity.

Most people have bills, careers etc to worry about. Suarez could retire tomorrow and never want for anything else with the amount of money he has already. Your colleague is probably not in quite the same position.

Why? If there is, it would be illegal for him to state it publicly so you can take your rolleyes back for suggesting he do something that could lead to him being sued for millions as being to his benefit.

Second, agents will tell clubs these things secretly to avoid such problems(though remember Blackburn tried to sue Utd and Utd ended up paying a bit more to avoid getting in trouble), so the only people who NEED to know about a clause can know anyway.

Third, he gets to pretend to be a saint to gullible Liverpool fans that think he gives a flying **** about Liverpool and not just about making more money and moving to a bigger club. Much like Rooney he pretends to be upset and then gets what he wants, then says what the fans want to hear. It's amazing how fans fall for it so completely.
