The previous contract was just a pay rise. The new one is being reported as a 4.5 year deal from now, which will take us to 2018.
 
This is fantastic news.

I'm sure there are get out clauses involved for him, but it will obviously be big money, and he seems happy enough to sign it.

Yes it does, but if I was his agent I would also look at it that they have negotiated more money and a stronger get out clause. I think you will be ok, because as I say I expect you to finish above Arsenal this year anyway.

I would assume it excludes premiership sides but tbh Suarez had most of the power in the negotiations. I doubt we will ever find out as you will easily finish in the top 4 this year.
 
Great news for Liverpool, the guy is a beast this season.

Every game he plays in you expect him to score. He's the difference between challenging for the top 4 and the title. Maybe not this year but certainly next year.
 
There will likely be a release clause if we don't qualify for the champions league and I reckon it will state only to foreign bidders, so no Arsenal / Man City. I reckon his value in the contract will be well above £40mil also.

Wonder what the clauses are in this contract, don't see Madrid spending £200m in 2 seasons specially while there under investigation using tax payers money or was it Aid money, It shows a level of commitment from him and Liverpool to get it done before January.

He could have waited till summer to to sign or think about it as he had 2 years left. Can't see RM bidding after their current investigation and buying Bale unless they get rid of some players.
Probably is a clause for something like £80m in it and to teams abroad only if they don't get CL.
Personally I think Liverpool will buy top quality players in Jan and summer to build the team around Suarez. They could end up like Spurs if they sell their best player.
 
So many cynics in the thread :p

I never understood big players wanting out of clubs they're worshipped at anyway, he'd just be another player at real Madrid etc whereas at Liverpool he's basically God :p

I don't think he'll go anywhere, though. With his importance to Liverpool and his new contract he'll be too expensive for every team in the world (unless he has some very specific get-out clauses in his contract), and after what happened last summer Liverpool will know that if they put up with his tantrums for a while he'll eventually calm down.
 
I imagine there will be some concrete get-out/buy-out clauses in the new contract. Can't seem him staying past next summer. A player of his quality should be at a big team.
