Suarez

How can some of you even closely relate Rooney swearing at the camera in a heated moment, to someone using racially abusive language to another human being in a culture that is so dead set against any racism of any sort.

Wake up. I am a united fan, always have been but I will speak objectively. The FA have clearly taken whatever evidence was available and made a decision on a subject that is very tetchy at the best of times.

I personally dont like Suarez, because he oozes brilliance but lets himself down by doing the things he does, which are well documented such as diving, biting and now this.

I hope his ban is reduced, but I do hope he still gets a ban.

It is also a message to other players from other countries that it doesn't matter where you are from you abide by the rules of the governing body in the country you play in. It just so happens that England has been on a huge anti racism drive for many years and Suarez has taken the brunt of it.

Anyway, I dont think he is racist, and neither does Evra by the sounds of it but that doesnt mean the FA can accept a 'it is different in my home country' as that would open up a huge can of worms.

:D

Well done sir!

To steal a post from elsewhere...

It seems that there is an awful lot of outrage about something we actually know very little about yet.

As far as I can work out, the facts that we know are:-

1) Evra said something to Suarez. This may or may not have been offensive.

2) Suarez replied to this, in a manner that may or may not have been offensive.

3) Suarez has potentially recieved an 8 game ban, for reasons that have yet to be explained.

4) The ban may or may not turn from being a potential ban to an actual ban, depending on the outcome of appeals / legal action.

So perhaps everyone needs to calm down a little, and wait until more information is available?

There wont be any legal challenge.

The only recourse is the court of arbitration for sport should an appeal fail, which isnt really a legal court.
As for the other points, Suarez HAS been found guilty of making a racist remark, thats why he's got an 8 match ban.
If he hadnt been found guilty, he wouldnt of been banned.

Its also an ACTUAL ban that is only delayed/reduced pending an appeal.

Other than that, its a 100% correct post.

Wasn't that posted yesterday before the decision was made?

Quite shocked England's Rose, they have to take the captaincy off him at least

I cant see how he can be taken to the Euro's now, any trail wont begin until June/August at the earliest how can you take a player with that looming over their head?

The word Suárez apparently said was negro, not negrito.

negro has ties to slavery as you know.

However, in Uraguay, its a polite way of addressing an African American as a friend or pal. Suárez asked on direct translation 'why, my black pal?'

How the hell is that racist?

He asked that in response to Evra saying 'don't touch me, you South American'.

What is wrong with Suárez asking 'why, my black pal?'

Suárez had no need to be racist, he was giving Evra a torrid time all day and had no reason to get under his skin with verbal insults. His performance alone was seeing Evra dive constantly, foul him slyly and run to the referee crying wolf. You could see Evra had seen red and gone mad. I honestly think this a plot purely because Evra never got to him during the game.

I think Evra was so infuriated after the game he came out with this nonsense then a few weeks after, when the reality of how serious it got dawned on him, he said 'I don't think Suárez is a racist'. Its the perfect attitude of a backtracker.

Before anyone says 'Suárez is definitely guilty, no he ISN'T. If you think he is, you don't understand how the FA work or operate. The FA find you guilty before giving you a chance to clear yourself.

Suarez was always going to be found guilty before having a chance to clear his name so this day was always going to come which is why so many are baffled as to why it took so long. My guess is, the FA have had the panel compiling evidence for the 2 months so when the appeal process comes along they have as much evidence as possible from both sides of the argument.

LIVERPOOL HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN ALLOWED TO DEFEND SUÁREZ YET. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ALLOWED TO USE A CHARACTER WITNESS, AN INTERPRETER OR THEIR OWN INDEPENDENT LAWYERS. THE DEFENCE PROCESS STARTS AT THE APPEAL PROCESS.

The FA work in an opposite manner to our judicial system.

Judicial system - innocent until proven guilty.

FA - guilty until innocence is proved.

The amount of people who still haven't grasped that and claim to know about football is astonishing, it truly is.

Right.

So as it stands, he is guilty. The burden of proof is on Suarez/Liverpool to prove that he is not guilty.

You said it yourself, he is guilty.

What he did at the world cup was not cheating. He broke a rule and got punished. Wonder how harsh people would have been if a rio or carragher would have done that for england.

Ok, let me rephrase it.

4. We know how he was unsportsmanlike at the World cup.

Anyone who thinks Suarez is racist, is an idiot.

He said a word that English people might think is wrong, but in his culture its normal and no matter how long he has been here or Holland (where he played with a lot of blacks in a 'Jewish' club) his natural language and mannerism will still be that of a Uruguayan.

I cant understand why Evra would be so offended anyway. Its not like he is proud of his heritage, hence playing for France rather than his birth nation.... its the same old case of 'when it suits'.

Id still call it cheating.

And if an English player had done it still think it was farcical, I HATE cheats like that, he even denied it and looked all shocked when sent off. utter hate for that man.

Oh and Evra the innocent victim in all this was an absolute icon of integrity at the 2010 World Cup....

Evra is a known liar and plays his cards cleverly to make people feel sorry for the poor little black kid who done good.

What he said was a racist term and even in his native country it is a way to refer to black people based entirely on their skin colour - that is racist.

No it's not

For a term to be racist, it's intention needs to be to discriminate against somebody based on their race.
