No it's not

For a term to be racist, it's intention needs to be to discriminate against somebody based on their race.

The word itself (assuming it is negro for arguments sake) is offensive to black people in this country. You can't go around calling people negro's because it will offend them, even if you don't intend to and are just having a laugh (in whatever bizarre scenario that may be).

It's a predominantly racist term.

This threads going no where now, just riff raff coming in spouting their word as fact without adding anything to the discussion

You're jumping around all over the place here. You just said the term is even racist in his native language but it's not.

The use of a word in any language isn't racist, the intention to discriminate against somebody because of their race is racist.

If Suarez has used the term negro to discriminate against Evra then he's been racist, if he's said the term and is oblivious (I'm not saying this is or isn't the case, I don't know) to it's racial connotations in this country and he wasn't intending to discriminate, he can be accused of being ignorant but not racist. Whether you believe the punishment should be the same is another matter.

It should be pointed out that Suarez has only been charged with insulting Evra and making reference to his colour, not the charge of discriminating against Evra which would mean either there is no evidence to support this and/or he wasn't accused of this to begin with.

Fair enough. Hopefully more information will come out otherwise we'll never know.

Right.

So as it stands, he is guilty. The burden of proof is on Suarez/Liverpool to prove that he is not guilty.

You said it yourself, he is guilty.

Do you understand what you just said? So would you feel it was right if the judicial system worked in the correct way?

Lets say you were on trial for murder and the CPS said 'you're guilty' without letting you have a defence lawyer or evidence presented. You can clear your name during appeal.

Then the next day Newspapers like the The Sun and so forth come out and say ''MURDERER! MAN CHARGED WITH 'XYZ' MURDER!"

How would you feel about that?

It just goes to show how inept and wrong the FA's system is. It makes people look bad when they may not even be guilty. It lays the blame before hearing the story, its beyond the realms of retardation to put it bluntly and unfortunately in this country, the FA, does employ a lot of retards.

Suarez in the FA's eyes is guilty yes, but thats because their system is wrong. From a moral stance, if you have morals and are understanding of the FA's system, you'd realise the case isn't really over yet and no actual verdict should have been given. If this was a court of law, we'd still be none the wiser. Yet as this is the FA, an incompetent organisation, they do everything the wrong way around.

So Suarez may be guilty, he may not, but morally, until the appeal process is over, only a retard who doesn't understand the FA's way of doing things would pass judgement.

How can you close a case without hearing the other side of the argument? You can't to be perfectly honest. Even with a murder the defence prosecution may have perfect grounds to defend their client by using self defence.

That is all I have to say. People are getting irate about the issue and think its a closed matter but quite frankly the case has only just begun. Far too many people are getting drawn into the FA's idiocy and more fool them. Its not the first time in history donkeys have gone with the group.

If terry is found guilty then surely the FA will act, as I see it, it's still in the investigation phase and the FA are just letting the police do the work, when the verdict comes out the FA will punish accordingly

Presumably, as a term of endearment, he's called Glen Johnson 'negrito' before and he was absolute fine with it?

/Devil's advocate

I think this is all ridiculous.

Even being a Man Utd fan I feel sorry for Luis Suarez. He's a goofy **** but Patrice Evra is nothing but a French precious pansy. You got called a name, so ****ing what?! These so called footballers need to grow up and stop crying to mummy cos someone calls them a name. So what if its a racial slur, its only a ****ing name! Get over yourselves, stop being a pussy and play the game. What goes on on the pitch stays on the pitch, name calling has and always will be a part of the game. I actually agree with what Sepp Blatter said. After the game it should be forgotten about.

When I played football I didn't think I'd had a good game unless I was verbally or physically abused in some way.

I'm not saying racism is OK in any form but this is purely name calling in the heat of battle to try and get an edge over an opponent and it will always happen. The line is drawn when the whistle blows and the players cross that lightishcoloured line...

Racist remarks to cause offence shouldn't be used and should be punished, mind you if suarez did call him a 'negro' or whatever, an eight game ban is hilarious

So that means calling someone names, say, in a heated arguement is OK as well does it?

Not sure how you draw that conclusion from my post, but no. Name calling is childish, but so is that way people react to it on a fooball pitch, no different than faking injury IMO, actually it's possibly worse.

Have you ever played football competitively? If not I don't think you could ever understand my point.

Fully agree with every point you made.

I've been called 'fatty' as I'm a bit larger like John Parkin :D and I've been called a taffy **** when playing in England. You just deal with it and by the night, having a pint in the pub or back at home wherever you are you've completely forgotten about it.

This whole issue has arisen because Suarez made Evra look stupid all game. Evra this season has quite a number of poor performances and quite often he ends up play acting or running in the referees face. Its quite appalling how he thinks he deserves some special treatment.

Indeed. Whether the FA can or will bring further punishment against him if he's guilty, I'm not sure. I wouldn't bet against them dodging the issue by simply leaving it to the police to deal with though.

After the way the FA have complained and campaigned against Racist chants towards English players abroad, for them to not punish Terry would be suicide.

I'd expect a ban at least the same length as Saurez and for him to lose the England Captaincy.

If I'm going to call someone a **** I can add the f word before it. Not sure I need to add 'black' or anything to it, nor would I think to actually...
