Suarez

'It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.'

Having read that part of the statement I have come to the conclusion that the FA have slapped the mandatory charges to the rule book without determining guilt. This is the way the FA do things. The FA's laws and regulations are somewhat sketchy in most cases. They deem you guilty before innocent, the same as FIFA and UEFA.

This is why Switzerland have to prove themselves or they will be deemed guilty and Basel will be kicked out of Europe. This is the same sort of scenario. They first find you guilty, then they give you a 14 day appeal window. This is where Liverpool will have their chance to put forward witnesses and lawyers to either get that overturned or cut down. Often in race cases a character witness is put forward. There will most likely be a translator also given the complexity due to the language differences as well as cultural differences.

The FA charging Suarez does not mean he is a racist or that he is guilty. it means that they're going by the book in this country. If it is deemed with evidence from a defence lawyer that he is not guilty this will get overturned. This was also going to happen. He was always going to get initially charged with this and then its up to Liverpool to sort out the mess and its going to cost them a fortune to get it dealt with. Its the way the FA operate. By doing this it allows them to flaunt their power as well as put teams in a vulnerable situation.

It shocks me how so many were not prepared for this. It just proves so many don't understand that the FA operate a guilty until proven innocent policy rather than the same way the judicial system does, innocent until proven guilty.

This

Also that last line about Evra being offensive to Suarez unless Evra was being equally racist then Liverpool don't have a leg to stand on with that one

Technically, your not allowed to be abusive at any time, regardless.
And for all you know, it could have occurred before. Probably after Evra dived in the corner considering it was at this moment he was screaming at Suarez.

Not an 8 game ban leg, certainly a ban though.

i doubt if dogleashs arrogant attitude towards the investigation and the hearing has hardly helped suarez`s cause !

Dogleash, really? When do you ever come here apart from to be a WUM?

Personally, if he has been proven to be a racist then I think the ban isn't harsh enough, and I am not just saying it because it's Suarez and I can't stand the arrogance of the guy.

The FA are always going on about the Kick Racism out of Football campaign and rightly so. There is no place for it in our game, therefore, surely, if they want rid of it from the game, why not punish someone for being racist with a severe "season long" ban.

Also feel that Terry is going to get the same punishment only if the CPS decide to prosecute. If they don't, he will be let off and the FA will state there is no evidence to support he is racist.

Reading the statement again I think we'll bypass the appeal and take it straight to court. Unless the FA really do have a water tight defence against Suarez this could get very nasty for them.

Was that before or after Downing dived I forget :p

Seriously though whilst you may be correct about the abusive part players tell the ref and one another to **** off (and probably a lot worse) in almost every game, if you go down that road you won't have any players available to play on a Saturday :p

Would that be relevant?

Obviously it would.
If it occurred before the alleged incident, then what is Evra's excuse for being abusive?

Although, since the FA are apparently taking a hard approach to the rule book these days, it shouldn't matter anyway as abuse is abuse, and will (lol) be punished.

This stinks a bit - seems the FA was on a mission to ban him. I'll wonder if Terry will get the same or longer ban, if found guilty.

I don't blame Dalgish for refusing to comment - a lot of times the FA are a law to themselves.

Terry will get a ban. The only reason the FA are not doing anything yet is beacause anything they do could be seen to prejudice a criminal trial.
