Suarez

Fair play to LFC, I expect the club will inform Luis to take the Incident talked about at the end there further now.

No not fair play to Liverpool at all, not by a long shot. How about accepting the decision and moving on. God forbid they take a hard line stance themselves and maybe punish him also for dragging the good name of Liverpool through the gutter.

It was an Independent commission who have carried this out. Despite what some fans CHOOSE to believe, the commission is neutral in this. The statement from LFC is nothing short of BS. They claim that the decision was made on the word of Evra and Evra alone against Suarez. So in that case, it must have been decided by the flip of a coin or the roll of a dice.

Just because it's acceptable to use words like that in Uruguay why should that be deemed a reasonable defence in England  A lot of things are acceptable here in the UK but you can bet your ass if I went to another country and did those things that were against the law over there then I would have no defence either.

The statement then goes on with the expected rhetoric of Suarez has many black friends and has played with many black players. They then stoop to effectively say that Evra has cried wolf so on this occasion, his claim has no merit or foundation. It still doesn't get away from him being charged with using Racist comments.

The only time LFC can crow and call favouritism is if Terry does not get a ban of equal measure. I thought Liverpool would have had a little bit more class than what they have published today but obviously not.

Personally, if he has been proven to be a racist then I think the ban isn't harsh enough, and I am not just saying it because it's Suarez and I can't stand the arrogance of the guy.

The FA are always going on about the Kick Racism out of Football campaign and rightly so. There is no place for it in our game, therefore, surely, if they want rid of it from the game, why not punish someone for being racist with a severe "season long" ban.

There's a difference between being racist and being a racist. I doubt (and Evra says this himself) that Suarez is a racist, you'd need backlog of multiple cases to prove this otherwise. At best he was naive with whatever he's been found guilty to have said and the ban will teach him how to conduct himself in the future.

Well put.

I thought we were talking about the final paragraph of the LFC statement, and not the charge against Suarez.

I was just making sure you weren't connecting that statement to the charge against Suarez.

I have no idea what the specific rules are regarding abuse between players (I don't think I've ever heard it raised before) but why haven't Liverpool pushed for charges to be brought against Evra for abuse before now?

It's part of the charge that's been brought against Suarez

Suarez has been charged with insulting Evra and making reference to his colour.

Desperation :p

The way this is going with Liverpool's statement though they're making this a Liverpool v Man Utd thing which could be potentially very dangerous for match goers

Fair enough argue your case but there are ways and means of doing it

So if you thought you were wrongly charged and convicted for something, you'd just accept it and move on?

What a ridiculous thing to say.

No not at all. The defence of Suarez is

* It's Ok to say it in Uruguay so I thought it would be ok in the UK
* It's Only Evra who has made the claim so it must be a lie and the commission is obviously incompetent.
* Luis Suarez has many black friends so he can't be a racist
* Evra has cried Wolf so on this occasion Suarez must be innocent

If that is the best defence he has in light of the commissions findings, no wonder his case folded like a cheap suit

Well yes but this has only happened because of the race angle, I can't remember any incidents of charges for general abuse.

Liverpool statement is pathetic, embarassing even. It's almost as good as Blatter's excuses.

He's once said hello to a black man, he can't be racist!!!!11

Don't really understand why Evra's word comes into it, I thought Suarez didn't deny he said it, he just said it wasn't offensive.

if his legal team was the same one that cleared that statement I'm amazed he's not banned for the season. What a bunch of amateurs.

Before we get to Suarez's defense, shouldn't we look at the evidence against him? The only evidence we know of is Evra's word (somebody that's been found to have provided "exaggerated and unreliable" evidence in the past) and going by what Liverpool have said (and they'd have had lawyers at the hearing), that's all there is. We can only take their word for that but it would be dangerous of them to say that if it was untrue.

If that is the case then why would you accept being charged and move on?

If tomorrow you were charged with making racist remarks and the only evidence against you was the accusers word, would you accept the charge and move on?
