Just been to my nearest Toyota dealer to take a look. Unfortunately I couldn't take it for a test drive as it's a Sunday, but I'm going to phone and book one for next week probably.
Took the opportunity to have a good look around it though. Very nice seating position. Seats are supportive and comfortable. Not a huge amount of toys, but for a car of that type and price it seems to come pretty well equipped for the price - cruise, heated seats, power fold mirrors, bluetooth/sat nav head unit (although an option in the car I sat in), HIDs. The interior was pretty nice as well. I was expecting it to be cheap and creaky plastic everywhere, but most of it is quite good quality - not as good as a German brand obviously, there were still the occasional bits of trim that looked like they might be scratch-magnets, but the top of the dash was soft touch plastic and there was lots of nice leather trimming. The seats in the showroom example were black cloth and alcantara.
Boot is pretty massive and the rear seats fold forwards. The rear seats are more of a token though - I sat in it with a friend and whilst he was able to get the passenger seat forward enough that you might get a midget behind him, with the drivers seat in my comfortable position (ie, right back - fat git) he could see about 2 inches of leg room behind me.
I aim to try and test drive it, but given what I saw, the type of car it is, and the accolades it already has for driving pleasure, it will be a definite contender if/when I choose to change cars
