Subnautica

You need to find the nuclear reactor fragments then you won't need to worry about powering your bases.

Yeah, only issue at the moment is that I'm actually not able to find any fragments in my current save. Apparently this is a bug with the game in the latest build. I'll try another cache reset tonight. I hope it works. I don't fancy starting a new save. I've only just started building my new epic base on the Grand Reef :(

I wandered into the lava lakes area today and found a tunnel that goes even deeper than the cyclops max depth.

I ignored the warning as i thought that the cyclops was indestructible, The alarm, flashing red lights and hull breaches proved me wrong.

My lad picked this up ages ago and it looked stunningly beautiful then. I'll let him know about the update and see if I can get a go of his over steam sharing before buying my own. MP would be fantastic and VR version would be amazing as you would feel like you were there due to you actually wearing a facemask/Goggles. :D

For a bit more excitement and MP you can always play Depth.....scary and jumpy as hell.

ok, so I gave it a shot. Performance is sluggish in VR, which is a shame - the loading screen above the water looks lush, but in-game however the textures are really low quality and i'm getting such poor FPS (Xeon X5687 3.6 & MSI 1080 OC) that its a bit immersion breaking, have to jump down to medium water to keep up smoothness. :/

Also I just tried creative mode and dont know wtf is going on

Creative is just a free mode where you can build anything you like right away, with no resource cost and you don't have to manage your food and water. It's basically just a massive underwater sandbox. Build a huge base wherever you like, get yourself the submersibles and the exosuit, upgrade them, and then go and explore without having to worry about anything. The issue with Creative mode is that it takes the fun out of the game because everything is just given to you straight away. It kinda takes the shine off of things because you're just exploring for the sake of it rather than to find new resources, materials and schematics for new stuff. I got bored of it after about an hour or so and went to Survival. I'm having far more fun in that and I've played for about 28 hours.

Apart from one or two missing elements (compass) it works fine in mine.:confused:

it's amazing on the vive imo

Hmm. The main screen with my health/breath etc is outside of my vision. I can move my head like in normal VR but the UI follows me so I can never see it. I have to wait for the audio warning of low air to resurface.
The inventory tab is slightly too close to my face and I have to go cross eyed to use it. It was similar for Alien Isolation on my DK2, all the monitors were too close. As it wasn't part of the environment and was the UI, you couldn't just move further away as it followed you.

However having said that, go creative mode and just enjoy swimming around. Looks lovely and I enjoy underwater environments (love the Blu)

Yeah I kinda figured that, but i meant no story to bring me in - theres a big ship on fire which I cant swim to (immersion factor -1) and lots of bits everywhere, with no reference for what i'm doing - I need to play some story mode first so I know the back story/game mechanics before attempting sandbox, is what I mean.

Shame i'm getting bad performance with the Vive on

You can swim to it...or do you mean just in sandbox mode???

sandbox mode, hot a glass wall

i'll have another go tomorrow or another day. Been too busy playing games with proper support/not VR or else I spend days just fiddling with stuff and not playing games

How is it with a controller? Seems like an idea couch candidate :)

It's ok although I find it a little sluggish at times with the controller. Trying to catch fish using the controller isn't very easy, and considering I get food and water from fish, it makes it a bit tricky! Aside from that, if you're cruising around in a Seamoth or your Cyclops exploring and searching wrecks, it works well with a controller. Aside from the catching fish issue, it is an ideal couch game!

Yep, hence me playing on Survival instead. It gives you goals and these goals give you a proper reason to progress. You also get snippets of what's going on, although I kinda knew a lot of that before I bought the game because I'd been watching Markiplier play through it.
