Succession

Has to be the third best show ever made imo after The Wire and The Sopranos....it's such a beautifully made show and the acting is just superb especially from the actor who plays Kendall. Much like The Wire and The Sopranos it's a show you need to watch at least the first 5 episodes before you 'get it'.

Find it weird when people say they don't like any of the characters so they don't like it because of that.... None of them are supposed to be likable although Greg and to a lesser extent Kendall are both pretty likeable. To be honest who was that likeable in The Soprano's? They pretty much were all pieces of crap the characters yet it's still the greatest show ever made along with The Wire.

The comment I read about Billions being better then Succession is just laughable tbh. It's like saying Dexter was a better show then something like The Wire. Billions is bubble gum TV, Succession is a once every few years TV show.

Incredible TV. Top 5 all-time for me.

I love how it seems like every episode ends with Kendall sinking deeper and deeper after taking yet another "L". Poor guy he's just so clueless, everything he touches turns to ****.

:D

Anyone else feeling this season has not been up to par. The last two eps have been terrific but the fact that next week is the finale and it feels like the first 5 episodes had some kind of weird pandemic vibe to them makes me a bit down about it (Like the random Adrien Brody episode?!?)

Kendall's plot has been brilliant all season but definitely feel him not in the family circle has caused the show to be very disjointed and the acquisition plot doesn't have the same energy that the Rhea/Nan stuff did in the second season.

Obviously they have set the stage for an amazing finale, I just wished they had a few more episodes to get there.

I've really enjoyed this season, especially the last 2 but yeah I do wonder how it's all going to be wrapped in 1 more episode.

Speaking of which........same question for the last season of The Expanse :(? Can't wait though!

Absolutely loving this. Been suggested it for ages but couldn't find anywhere to watch it without subscribing a new streaming service. I think it's available on Disney Plus in the UK, but managed to find it streaming elsewhere anyway

Just binged 1.5 seasons and it's some of the most consistently fun and engaging dialogue in ages.

Kieran Culkin is standout for me in this, but I love so many of the characters. Tom, Greg, Shiv, Logan, Ken.

They really grow on you even though really they're all total ass***** completely detached from reality (apart from Greg)

For ages it was bugging me where I recognised Tom from, then I realised he was in Spooks years ago!

yeh only 9 this season, I believe the original order was for 11....but covid. Hopefully we get season 4 as regularly scheduled otherwise its going to be a long year wait.

I waiting for 10 for ages, sure it was coming, it felt like there was another 2 EP's left in it or I thought they might do one 1/2 hours climax. But it does make sense at 9 EP's as this was a great cliffhangar.

yeh Kendall's party is really where it picked up. I felt the FBI stuff was pointless as it never seemed like a real threat so it just seems like they wasted the first half of the season for nothing really. I don't know about the decision to play Kendall as super weak from the get-go, given his power play move at the end of season 2 BUT he certainly got some redemption towards the end of this season and is perhaps much stronger now having lost some of his 'baggage'.

Anyway still excellent tv and hopefully we get season 4 soon.

This show is great. Kieran Culkin is the stand out for me. Roman's line to Gerri in S3 EP2 had me literally laughing out loud.

"Well don't threaten me Gerri I don't have time to jerk off."

Kendall's decent and decline has been a theme from his first scene in the show really, when being driven to the office. It's clear even then he's not some super-shark CEO in-waiting, in opposition to that Roman's rise, who was nowhere near suitable to work in that environment to begin with, but has grown and has been pretty shrewd.

The Tom & Greg double-act has been fun to watch.

Exactly.

Tom is such a dick to Greg, but it's absolutely hilarious.

It's funny how each of the characters started to grow on me, but then as the seasons progress, as much as each of them have their good moments, in reality they really are all horrible people. Except maybe Greg, who still comes across way more clueless than I'd expect him to still be at this point.

What are peoples thoughts on how S3 ended? Who gave Logan the heads up and the impetus to change the divorce agreement and screw the kids over? Tom maybe? That new husband sees a bit dodgy too. Hitting up Logan for his parliamentary contacts. Hopefully setting it up for some big drama in S4

Was thinking the same thing.

suspect Greg indirectly. Tom too loyal to Shiv. Logic is if Shiv goes down so does Tom

Watch the hbo 'making of the finale'. It was confirmed who it was in that. I initially thought it was supposed to be ambiguous just turns out that it was a bit of poor editing.

Don't be fooled by Greg he gives as good as he gets, he's a Roy to the bone. Tom tried to trick him with the cruise reports, but he wasn't stupid enough to burn them all, Tom has complimented him on becoming a POS. He knows when Tom's trying have his pants down. He's kind of a naive bumbler, but also very sharp, he's bounced from Grandad back to Logan as the wind has changed too. He was all over Comfrey, after being told he had no shot, then realised she wasn't much advatange to him especially in light of Kendall's defeat. With Comfrey he had a bit of a liferaft in Kendall's camp. Soon as he saw the Swiss Princess/Waitress, he's sidelined Comfrey.

He's kind of unsure of himself, but is very shrewd, and always ends up not getting f'd. He's a POS like the rest of them, Grandpa is the moral compass, but he's nothing like him, he runs to him when he's in the ****.

I think Toms halfway between mentoring him and trying to f him over, and it's very funny to watch. I definitely think you could read Greg as someone whose just naively bumbling his way through, but I reckon he's much more calculated than that.
