Suicide outside my office

Failed parachutes or suicide?

Can't have been nice to see.:(

The former. Not pleasant at all, especially as I was the only instructor on the ground any where near.

It's such a selfish thing to do. Someone nearly killed my Sister by jumping off a building last year, I hope they're suffering now.

That's a really horrid attitude to have. I'm sorry about your sister, I really am, but ultimately she's ok, and that tormented person has left a scar on the heart of their loved ones. Can you imagine how lost you have to be to take sure a drastic action such as taking your own life? It's not attention seeking, as what good does it do you when you're dead? It's really a sad situation IMO.

:( hope they're in a better place now. rip

Agreed - at least the torment has stopped. I just hope that the ones that are affected by this can hold on to whatever positive memories they have.

That's what we mean by selfishness. They have left behind a vacuum in their loved ones' lives that will never be filled.

What a ridiculous post.

It highlights your obvious ignorance to the subject and further adds to the stigma attached to suicide.

Such a sad situation :( RIP and thoughts with the families.

Not the nicest of attitudes, but I can sympathise with him. The person who is trying to commit suicide, however tormented they may be, are fulfilling or attempting to fulfill a wholly selfish action. They're trying to escape something that personally for them, they feel they cannot otherwise. Now, this selfish act, which the other person posted, nearly killed his sister - so I can understand his anger at that person's selfish carelessness. And in the article, the woman jumped from an Asda shopping centre - how many children and other people were there that are going to be traumatically affected by this?

Obviously a lot of people don't understand the trauma you have to go through to want to kill yourself. I guess if you did want to kill yourself you could be more considerate and do it in the privacy of your own home... to wait for the smell to bring anyone to find you....

Yes quite possibly the act may be a selfish one, and yes the fact his sister was nearly injured is/was unpleasant. And yes the rest of that family will be grieving and fighting for some understanding, but at the same time, seeing their loved one being eaten alive by their torment, and slowly spiralling out of control I can also appreciate the need to end the pain.

I'm drawing from very personal experiences here having been on both sides of the fence.

I have witnessed two deaths.

One was another homeless man crushed anothers in a doorway (his head literally exploded) - I saw this at the age of 7 and was so freaked out.

Then when i was 12 I watched a man jump form his top window and land headfirst on concrete. I could see his brain.

No wonder im so messed up :o:p

Don't get me wrong, I have been through it. I was just commenting on the fact that people committing suicide in public places is going to cause undesired grief to a lot of people who would otherwise not have if, as you say, it was down in their own home. And yes, I can also understand the need to end the pain.

But the amount of trauma that person is going to cause a lot of others, possibly beyond repair, is something worth mentioning. What these unfortunate people don't realise is that their sadness and grief or whatever crap they're going through which they think they can't escape from isn't going to end if they kill themselves. It'll just be transferred to others. That's one of the reasons why I didn't - because I knew that it'd cause a lot of pain to a lot of people who didn't deserve that pain, as I didn't deserve it.

If you're going to be selfish and cowardly and end your life, then please, do it somewhere secluded, away from people.

Its ok Ken, that is to be expected, you live in the US. Just don't let these experiences affect you in a way that makes you go hire a gun and blow away a school.
