sum up 2010

Yea, it's a facelift (97 on) one :) They changed the exterior styling, rounded it all off, and revamped the interior completey so it was more European - modern dash, seats, overhead console, etc. Lost a bit of it's charm but a bit more useable - added things like cupholders for example.

Doesn't feel as tough or as well-built as the earlier interiors though :)

The year has been sweet to me in just about every way conceivable.
As far as motoring goes I got Skoda Love. :D

Yipee Kiyay :p

Excellent for me. Finally in a better financial situation after starting a business and buying a property so bought an RS R26.

However, I can not drive it atm as I have a broken fib and tib due to my 16 stone mate thinking it was a good idea to slide tackle me on astro. cheers. Titanium leg ***!

Started in Mazda 6
Repaired Mazda 6 A/C & Clutch
Bought BMW Funduro F650
Repaired and modernised Funduro
Funduro sits in garage in a blanket
Took and passed motorbike test for the 3rd time
Pretty much given 54 plate S80 D5
Put Mazda 6 up for sale
Wafting around on the snow and ice in winter mode in the S80

Started the year in my T4, drove it a fair bit, slept in it 5 days a week for 6 months whilst working away from June onwards. Understandably I got sick off the van. It served its purpose though as whist I had it.. very little went wrong with it. It also saved me a lot of money on overnight expenses whilst enjoying the summer in it! :)

Sold it last weekend, guy collected it yesterday. So far I don't regret selling it one bit like I have done with my previous v70.

I picked up my new volvo last weekend... so far so good, just a few little cosmetic niggles to sort out and then I'm happy...

Car broke down, was repaired at the roadside for a fiver.
RAC guy noticed something dodgy in the engine bay.
When getting that fixed, mechanics noticed even more dodgy stuff.
Fixing the dodgy bits cost £300.
Steering wheel got nicked.
Total of repairing that, also £300.
And I still haven't had my service and MOT for this year yet.

Expensive year, but at least I didn't crash.

Bought a cheap motor which I stacked on the way home
Repaired said cheap motor
Run around in it for 6 months then it died
Borrowed a van until 2 weeks ago, now you can call me car-less
Currently hunting for a car.

It 'could' have been better :o

Sold the car I owned for 6 years and did about 1000 miles during that time. Was still sad to see it go tbh but I think it's gone to a good home.

Motoring in 2010 was eventful and expensive for me.

Spent €1500 on servicing and repairs on the Leon, which I then sold in the summer.

Bought this heap for €2500 and spent another €1000 on a service, tyres and a new back box. And then another €1,000 on tax.

Realised that whilst the Volvo's a nice place to be, it's a bit on the boring side, so I got this in October. Spent around €1000 on an Eisenmann back box and a service. Well worth it though.

Just got the tax bill - €2500 :D

My clio decided it didn't like running on 4 spark plugs so spat one out and tried running on three, in the process ripping the thread out of the head and creating an oval hole.
Decided not to fix it.
Bought an MX5

Dug the E30 out of the muddy hole it had been sitting in for over a year.

Got a lot of the bodywork sorted, refurbed/replaced all the suspension components, sorted out the valve clearance problem (almost). MOT'd it. Fitting eibach springs and bilstein b4's.

Plans for the next year are a bit rubbish due to saving money, but it'll just be a slow laborious fixing of every little thing which needs doing, so at the end I'll have a relatively slow, but lovely to drive 95% mint 320i.

If I was sensible, I'd just buy a newer, faster, better in a lot of respects car for the same money. But I'm not, and I enjoy tinkering so it'll stay.

Oh and a picture -

The reason it's sitting about 6ft up is that it was on the old springs and shocks and had just been jacked up to sort something, takes a while to settle down.

F1's crap in the snow/ice, other than that the vRS hasn't missed a beat. At 5 years old it needed the big service and a cambelt change which cost a bit. F1's still crap in the snow this week.

Sold my Mk. 4 fiesta and bought a Focus ST, an old fool crashed into the back of me a month later, so I got a new rear bumper and exhaust out of that. Have spent about 1.5k modifying it and getting new tyres, and about to spend another 1k on mods before the year is up.

Started 2010 with 530i.

Spent £2,500 on tax, tyres, servicing, repairs and a front bumper respray on 530i.

Won't tempt fate so will end on the fact I've finished 4th December 2010 with 530i. 2010 should end for my car with a 1000 mile round trip to Scotland over 5 days ending on 31st December, so I'm certainly not ready to declare I've made it :p

have you got winter tyres? its cold up there :D
