sum up 2010

Jeeze at the Volvo/Honda damage.

You stopped and he didn't, whats the story and was it solved amicably?

Yeah pretty much. He went round a blind bend to quickly not knowing that i had had to stop and pull into the lay-by due to oncoming traffic. He braked, wheels locked (no stability control on DC2's) and went into the back of me at about 25 ~30 mph. It was all sorted through insurance as he didn't want to pay the £1700 cost of fixing my car.

You sure it didn't bend the floor in the boot or anything? Seems a bit mad that the Integra would get smashed to pieces and yours suffered merely a bumper :/

Nope. Got it all looked at and fixed properly through Volvo. It probably helped that I didn't have the handbrake on so it rolled forward quite a bit so then took away a lot of the force of the impact. 12 year old car vs a 1 year old car, the 12 year old one is going to come off worse in this situation, especially with it being a light weight coupé. This and the fact that the DC2 is a lot lower than my car as well so it sort of chipped under it a bit.

My 2010...

I had a couple of minor issues with the 4Mo; mostly self inflicted by my wife. But apart from a common brake pedal issue, it has generally been fantastically reliable again. I passed 50k miles in it this year (not bad for a 53 plate). I nearly swapped it for a mk5 R32 but the 4Mo just does everything I want and I couldn't justify the extra cost. I also don't fancy going back to insurance premiums of over £700 again (I'm paying half that for the 4Mo). Not to mention being back in a newish car which means depreciation again.

But my search for a weekend fun car continues. I've seen some sheds and turned down some relative minters. But it has been a learning experience and I'll get there shortly. I have one in mind if only the seller would let me see the thing (long story) :)

My 2010, had no car till october. Bought a mk3 mondeo 2.0. Its not great but the best i can afford at the mo. Crave 6cyls and rwd though :(

4 cylinders of reliableness, didn't let me down in 2009 and has not in 2010 either :p

I have spent only £400~ on it in 2010 for new rear tyres, MOT, oil service.

Oh and the sidelight bulbs? Fixed! *folds arms*

I started the year with this;

Replaced it with this;

Which was rear-ended, repaired and then sold.

To be replaced with a 1.6 Focus and something else, which I'm still on the hunt for, but hopefully I'll find something before the year is out :)

Decided that I didn't really use it enough to justify it so bought myself a Mini.

Then bought myself lots of 2 wheeled things to play with.

Started year in one of these:

Sold it and bought one of these:

Otherwise a pretty uneventful year.[/QUOTE]

Seems like a pretty unusual change, why did you do it and how did you find it?

I consider the Supra (even in NA form) to be an awesome car, but have never particularly rated the Prelude.

Started the year not driving, I was saving up to pay off £8k of debt after splitting with my ex and moving back home, I was getting the bus all through that terrible weather last year.

Paid off the debts and saved up, got tired of saving and bought this "thing" I dont know what I was thinking, thought it would be cheap motoring but it really wasnt, it was pretty crap on fuel for how slow it was and the handling was terrible

It took me ages to sell it but it went in July and a week later I picked up one of my favourite cars that ever owned, I dont have an actual pic of the car but here is one from google, same colour etc, we got off to a rocky start as some of you may remember but its all been perfect since, had it serviced and other than a sticking caliper its been fine

Just been told i've secured a new job so its been a great year for me other than all the saving etc but its only getting better compared to the mess I was in this time last year

I consider the Supra (even in NA form) to be an awesome car, but have never particularly rated the Prelude.

My supra was a TT but although it was a lot of fun in the dry it was a bit dangerous in the wet if you got cocky. The Prelude on the other had is pretty much uncrashable in any conditions which is a good thing as my driving sucks in all conditions ^^. Both cars are/were semi auto as im not licensed to drive manuals due to my disability but heres a quick comparison:

Supra TT:
Faster in straight line.
More "modifiable".

Prelude SiR:
Better handling (4ws makes lane changing/cornering/parking easy and gives the turning circle of a car half the size).
More comfortable.
Better MPG.
The rear seats are large enough to accommodate a person above the ages of 6.
Better transmission (sequential shifter > button shifting).
Works in snow.
Nicer interior (obviously model specific).
Cheaper insurance.

All in all im happy with the change and I ade money out of it so win, with retrospect the Supe wasn't really the right car for me just a schoolboy dream due to myself and my friends being obsessed with the fast and the furious back in the day lol.

good to hear your on the mend. :)

Thanks

As for the Prelude, i've owned a UK spec red top and it was the best car I have ever owned, I massively regret selling it and have even practically begged the guy I sold it to sell it me back but with no joy, I like my current car its great but the Prelude just had something about it :(
