Sum up your team's season!

Team: Blackburn Rovers
Prediction: Top 10
Actual: 7th

I must say I am delighted with this season. The UEFA Cup exit to Larrasa was a kick in the teeth but the prem season went very well.

Thaught we dropped off abit but picked up the pace nicely.

Was really worried about Portsmouth, Spurs, West Ham, Villa & Man City over taking us before the season kicked off with all there signings but we came out ok.

Hope we can get a striker in, centre midfielder & LB/CD cover. Hope we can hang onto Bentley & Santa Cruz this summer. If we cant, you think Pennant or Lennon is worth a punt?

My team: Arsenal
Pre-season prediction: 1st
Actual result: 3rd

Started off well and was going so well for quite a while and then fell towards the end after Eduardo's injury and Gallas' hissy fits. Just need a bigger team end of, not sure what to think about next season after 4 years without a title.

Next season: top four

Totally agree. We need to splash a bit of cash and sort our defence out.

Team: Exeter City
Prediction: Promotion - ideally through winning the league
Actual: 4th - in Play-off final on Sunday 18th May

I think we've done well in the league this season to bounce back from the disappointment of losing the play-off final last year. A particular highlight being the comeback against Torquay in the play-off semis to fight back from 3-1 down on aggregate to win 5-3.

Paul Tisdale has his critics but I believe he's built a good (youngish) squad who are more than capable of holding their own in L2 (should we make it).

Not a lot more to add until after Sunday :)

My team : sunderland
Preseason prediction:14th
Actual result 15th

This season was all about survival, we have achived that and can now hopefully kick on a establish ourselves again. Loads of highs at home, awful away season. Highlights include, beating boro 3-2, beating spurs 1-0, and the other excellent results at home. 7 or 8 goals right at the end of games for the added drama. roll on next season.

Team: Brighton

Pre-Season Prediction: mid table

Actual Finish: 7th

Above average performance kept us in with a playoff shout until the final month of the season.

Manager removed after final game of the season, Mickey Adams re-installed as manager for 08/09 and hopefully beyond.

With the right investment and our new ground on the horizon, confident in predicting that Brighton will be back to being a Championship club in the very near future!

Results on the pitch should have seen us finish 1 point behind Swansea :) We'd have been promoted well before the end of the season.

understandable that they have dropped off form when you think how well they did at the start of the season. the whole points issue should have been done and dusted at the start of the season too, as it cant have helped.

you will probably win the playoffs but if you dont i expect you to steam rolller the league next year.

Just think it's time to let the points issue go, neither side is in the right but we're all tired of hearing about it. If you're good enough you'll still get promoted.

I said if we didn't win the playoffs we would walk the league next year. IE we'd walk League 1.

I'd barely mentioned it. I was responding to someone.

Leeds will be in the mix for sure, but will they be as motivated?

Don't think they are that good to walk the League, after all they only finished second this year!

Team: Blackburn Rovers
Prediction: 7th
Actual: 7th

I always thought that we'd be able to get back into Europe after the Larissa matches. Thanks to the Intertoto I do think we came into the season with abit of extra momentum and we picked up some great results in the first two months.

Unfortunately, like Man City we also seemed to burn out abit after starting strong. Some disappointing results against teams we really should have beaten (4-1 vs Coventry) have cost us and although we got some great results (1-1 vs Utd) its frustrating to know that a win against Birmingham would have got us back into the Intertoto. It was a shocking performance there and a really disappointing way to end the season.

Although I may seem quite negative i'm actually extremely proud of the club. On a budget of about 2 million this season we've managed to finish higher than teams such as Man City and Sunderland who spent massive amounts of money on players. Sparky's hopefully going to have 5 times the amount he had last summer to spend on new players this time around so hopefully with the right ins and outs we can mount a challenge for 5th next season.

I think it would have been a different story had the points been returned early. After all, what is more motivation, qualifying for the playoffs 2 or 3 weeks ahead of the end of the season or being in a 2-horse championship race for the last month of the season?

The only sides I can see giving Leeds a run for their money if they're not promoted through the playoffs are relegated teams from the Championship. If they can retain the important members of the squad and maybe add to it.

Bristol Rovers:
Prediction: stay up
Result: Stayed up :D

A pretty good season, had a fantastic cup run and for a long time were in touch with getting a top half of the table finish. End of season run in was very poor, looked like we were going to be fighting relegation at one point, but the sheer amount of games in hand finally kept us up.

Team - Hibernian
Prediction - Top 6
Actual - 4th to 6th (depending on results)

By the turn of the year Hibs were actually sitting at the top of the table, sadly things took a bit of a downwards tumble from there on. John Collins was replaced and Mixu installed as manager. He's brought in some fresh faces (with mixed fortunes) and seems to have got the team back on an even keel.

No joy in the Scottish Cup again this season, not that I was expecting much.

Our best player has undoubtedly been Steven Fletcher. He scored some excellent goals before rather going off the boil recently. David Murphy was also playing nicely before he transferred to Brum. As usual we've shed some of our best players to other outfits but unlike before we've not really been able to find replacements of an equal (let alone better) quality.

Things started off pretty brightly but unfortunately it looks like 2007-08 will have to be written off as another 'transitional season'.

Team: QPR
Prediction: Lower half, probably relegated and administration
Actual: 14th

QPR's year would make a season of 'Dream Team' look believable. Just getting over the shock of the murder of Kiyam Prince, a youth team player when we get the news that one of our first team players Ray Jones is killed :(. The worst start to a season I can remember with QPR being the last team in all of the English leagues to get a win. The team is in dire financial straits and administration is surely just around the corner.

Then suddenly a rumour starts that Bernie Ecclestone will be buying QPR. I get a phone call from a fellow fan who knows I'm an F1 fan and I laugh at him, he clearly hasn't got a clue about Bernie. The next day QPR are on the back page with the headline 'Ecclestone buys QPR'

Anyway the deal was on, then off, then on, we then hear Flavio Briatore will be involved as well and in the end it goes through! Apparently the team was a couple of hours from administration so it could have really really gone bad, I don't think QPR would ever have recovered.

So that's it yeah? NO! We get a new coach, Gigi De Canio and he really turns the team around. No more hoofball and the football is actually played on the floor now. I can't remember the team playing so good, the only problem is that silly goals are being let in at the end of the game.

Decemberish time comes and I get a text on my phone saying "World's 5th Richest Man buys 20% of QPR" - it's only Lakshi Mittal! Just amazing. Then a 20 million pound kit deal appears from Lotto Sport Italia - this is just for making the kit, not the main sponsor.

Anyway the team climbs up to mid table and still letting in silly goals at the end. By the time of the end of the season arrives if you took results from the first 45 minutes of each game QPR would have finished first in the league! If you took the results from the second half, we would have finished bottom - an amazing statistic if you ask me.

Now we've just this week had the news that De Canio has left via mutual consent (some people say he left because he was homesick, some say he was sacked - I don't know). This morning Iain Dowie has been signed as first team coach so we'll have to see how that pans out.

So yeah, quite an amazing season all in all. :D

RIP Ray Jones

Team - Newcastle Utd
Prediction - Top 8
Actual - 12th

Starting the rollercoaster was Big Sam, someone who i thought i could have faith in, besides all the fans who were slating this appointment i tried to stay positive, however as we all know it proved another ridiculous newcastle campaign, Big Sam just didnt do what the fans want from this club and thats good attacking football. The signings were pretty average, but should have brought a hardworking ethic to the team that previously was lacked. Wrong formations and playing players in crazy positions left the new owners no choice but to go with what they wanted all along their own appointment, Big Sam was always going to be up against it with a whole new structure at the club. Along comes Keegan and given the media nonsense and other fans finding it all a joke the city was actually feeling great for a week despite the miserable position and terrible run. That 4-1 stoke game said it all, Keegan just sitting in a seat and the place blew up. After a very hard struggle he got the team playing somewhat how he wanted and results came but it was obviously too late in the season and the same old dross playing for us. We need Keegan here for his 3year to just finish regular in the top10, then we will build from that... I agree with what he said and im glad he said it because if he didnt then some fools would be expecting a top4 finish next year! If the board back him and we have a bit more luck in the transfer window we should be finishing top10 and carrying on from there from now on.

Team: Middlesbrough
Prediction: Mid-table
Actual: 13th

Had an awful start to the season when we should have picked up more points. We seemed to be our worst enemies for most of the season, our finishing really was poor at times and was costing us far too many points. The loss of Viduka and Yak really did hit us.

Thankfully we signed Alves and hopefully with a few additions in the summer we can push into the top half. These definitely signs of a good team but we need to improve our performances against the poorer teams.

Player of the year - Close call but Downing just sheds it over Luke Young
Young Player of the year - David Wheater
Goal of the Season - Too many (for once) Tuncay Vs Derby, Young vs Spurs, Rocky vs Man City and Downing vs Man City.

Newcastle

Predicition : Probably a reasonable 8th

Reality : utter tripe this year, overshadowing other carp seasons, not overly happy

EDIT : would like to make it clear I was commenting on Big Sam, happy now that Keegans having a reasonable run, don't know what to make of summer signings, expecting to be dissapointed but still scrape a top 10 finish
