Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Their breast would probably be small and humble as well.

Ronaldo just makes no sense for anyone really. I know he is a specimen for his age but as we saw with Zlatan, all it takes is one serious injury and thats it. Bouncing back at that age is so hard. He has also had every team build around him for the past 8 or so years. I'm not sure thats a good thing for any club to do with a 33 year old.

I think it's as much to do with what he brings off the pitch as on it

...will someone please think of the shirt sales!
Not in the strictest sense - ie cash over the counter....just wondering if these kinds of signings help significantly (individually) to the shirt sponsor when a deal is about to be re-negotiated....usually around 18 months before the new deal starts?

That's one factor - which is probably hard to actually put actual amounts at how much its worth - but also even if he does go somewhere else, how that club is affected in the transfer market by having such a big name already there (and this could work for and against the club depending on the situation of the player coming in and what position he plays in).

Obviously owners of Nivea / Chevy who ever else would love Ronnie wearing their shirt ..and given how much marketing they could get from it I doubt £150m+ between the club and main sponsor over a three or more year period is that difficult to fathom .....I presume Nivea is a global brand, I know ?

I think what might put off EPL clubs is that Juve are reported to be offering a 4 year contract, and even given how healthy Ronnie is, that might be pushing it a bit.

transfer fee+ wages for Ronnie = transfer cost alone of Neymar 12 months ago (give or take a bit)...and it doesn't seem "that" bad.....whats the world coming to.

Whats even worse is untested kids having buy out clauses in the 50-60m euro region...whether this is negotiable or not is neither here nor there, no matter how talented at u19 level or whatever, no un tested kid should even be attached to that level.

South Americans in particular have a terrible record of being signed off the back of good world cups. There was a few Chileans from the last world cup, then further back Kleberson at Utd.

There was nothing wrong with the Chilean we bought after the last World Cup.

SSN now reporting that we are in talks to sign Steven N’Zonzi. Not sure about that one tbh.

The N’Zonzi thing is confusing.

1. We supposedly cant afford it having only a budget of £50 million during the summer and surely we have already blown this.
2. Is it because there is an issue with the Torreira deal and he is now seen an alternative choice?
