Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Danny Ward off to Leicester? Well I guess that means Karius is staying as number 2.

I've decided that we actually paid £66m for Salah and are signing Alisson for £36m - it looks better for all concerned.
Not surprising ward wants out, he clearly was never gonna get a look in.

We wasted last year for him imo, should have been allowed to leave then.

I'm surprised migs hasn't gone yet too

He was 3rd choice behind Karius and Migs. And yet he'd only move if he was guaranteed to start ahead of Schmeichel?
Kasper will be off to Chelsea I suspect
Certainly looks a possibility, although I've seen a few rumours that Roma might be interested in him too. Why does Ward want to move if he's not going to play and why are Leicester paying £12m on a sub keeper?

Why does Ward want to move if he's not going to play

Maybe he's just not had any better offers and he knows he's definitely not going to play where he is just now?

and why are Leicester paying £12m on a sub keeper?

I guess that possibly does add weight to the argument that Schmeichel may be off to somewhere like Chelsea, but £12m these days really isn't that much. It wouldn't be totally crazy for Leicester to spend that sort of money on a decent young keeper, with eyes to the long term rather than necessarily being an immediate #1.

Yup, Ward going to be first choice I reckon. Goalkeeper merry go round..

Allison > Liverpool
Courtois > Real Madrid
Schmeichel > Chelsea
Ward > Leicester

Surely if Schmeichel is staying then he knows he's not going to play at Leicester also though? And while £12m isn't that much these days, has anybody ever spent anything like that on a sub keeper before?

Who knows though? Maybe he knows Karius is staying and he won't even be on the bench for us next season so is willing to go as a number 2 else where but £12m seems an awful lot to spend on a sub keeper.

Anyway, it's just another example of Liverpool selling very very well. If Ward does complete his move that'll be not far off £40m for Ibe, Smith, Stewart and Ward.

Maybe fekir is off then. Lyon announcement he is getting presented with world cup trophy on August 12 prior to opening match.

On another note what a dumb thing in itself he barely played, is every France player gonna do that lol

I'd take everything with a pinch of salt. Just a couple of days ago their President was talking up the prospect of Fekir leaving to us or another club. I've got a Lyon supporting friend and he was more pleased for Fekir winning the WC than France winning the WC. Fekir is idolised at Lyon but their supporters don't begrudge him a move and I can't imagine they'd cancel this presentation if he is or isn't still a Lyon player.

I'm pretty concerned at the moment, Mourinho seems extra miserable and the transfer front has gone quiet. I think we still need at least 3 more top level players or we'll struggle again.

Liverpool are strengthening very well. Shaqiri to support the attackers, Alisson, Fabinho and Keita. Not bad at all.

Sounds by every passing day that Sandro is more likely going to PSG - and Im not convinced JM will change his mind about Shaw, so unless something is being kept very quiet we are left with Young (another converted winger in his 30s)

Was looking forward to a 2nd CM signing after Fred …..and then Fellaini re-signed ….ffs..another two years of endless elbows going everywhere

Bale sounds like its off (if it was really ever "on" of course) ...and its questionable whether Willian will end up arriving and to be honest for the reported £60m I would laugh in their face anyway (£40-£45 would be a decent deal all around but £60m is a rip off for a 30 year old, and the £80m for Peresic is even more of a laugh- and it doesn't sound like the latter wants to move anyway)

I really thought JM /Utd would have done a couple of non WC related deals during the event , Sandro for instance, but absolutely nothing happened at all. Unless JM / Woodward pull a few rabbits out of hats in the next two ish weeks , Utd will be going backwards

Liverpool have strengthened …..but also lost Ox for the season , and Can(t) to Juve…..actually maybe losing the later could be considered strengthening in its own right :) The two new kids look very handy indeed will be interesting to see how they adapt to the rigours of the EPL. If the transfer window closed tomorrow (and given Allison was confirmed before then) Liverpool would end up a fair few points above Utd come May

A few Utd supporters are already counting on another "you cant win anything with kids" season - some are incredibly promising but that's just stupid talk

I HOPE one deal that doesn't come off is Cahill - that frightened me more than another year of Smalling and Jones (I hope its just speculation.....but the horrible feeling is that he really is a "JM type " player).

One more CM and a two high-quality CBs please. I'm worried we're done for the this transfer window already...
Bright side is that I guess Mourinho won't be sticking around if we have a bang average season.
