Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Also reading that Arsenal interested in a loan deal for Dembele with an option to buy in the future.

Clever really. If we have no money I didn't really think about loanees.

Emily Forsberg linked too. Been watching a few videos on YouTube. Not sure. The guys got skills but he's a bit slow.

Lichtsteiner. OK he's 34, but for free would be decent addition to the squad. Experience. The guy has won 7 Scuddettos in a row. Winner.

Also reading reports Kronke has agreed to raise the pre sales budget by £20 mill to £70 mill.

Getting him on loan would still cost a lot. You'd basically be paying something like what it would cost per year if you signed him permanently... but obviously that insulates you from the risk if he bombs.

I just think it's a really clever way with limited funds to build a squad good enough to potentially break back in to the top four.

Then Dembele can go back to Barca and we will benefit from the cash windfall from qualifying for the Champions League again and rebuild the squad.

Finally Arsenal sound like they are being shrewd.

You answered your own question. We've got a very good first 13-14 players but a couple of injuries and we're down to our bare bones. With Can leaving and Ox now looking like missing the opening couple of months of the season, we're going to need more midfield options even with Keita coming in and Fekir will also provide us with an option for the front 3 too.
Yep a few more players in to add a bit of depth is needed for Liverpool. I think if they have that and work out how to beat the lower teams who sit back all the time then they could be pushing City really close at the top.

fez - you know he is 22 right (born in 95), Rashford is jus 20 (your point is still valid but personally think Martial should be more consistant by now)

Sane Stirling and De Bruyne had a great deal more experience arriving at City than Rashford or Martial got in the last few years at Utd (and given how disfunctional Utd have been in that period, even the experience they got was of limited use).

Pogba should have been a lot better than he was this season, he started brilliantly but since he came back from injury in November, his performances have swung from brilliant to ****** awful. Less said about Sanchez the better.

Think its better for everyone if Shaw leaves in the summer - although I can also see him waiting out the year and leaving on a free, but for his career prospects he needs that year somewhere else I think - personally seeing the year out at Utd would "appear " wrong to interested parties.

We did buy 6 new defenders though. Maybe more.

Blind, Damian, Bailey, rojojo, Shaw, lindleoff

Add up all the no e.g. wasted there:(

Wasn't a dig at you, just the way these days they do a video for everything when text is more than fine.
Its come to the point where I'd rather read text than watch a video. I guess they want to views rather than having someone copy and paste it without credit and lack of views for ads on their site.

All the Liverpool presspack are reporting that we'll make a renewed effort to sign Alisson from Roma. It's been reported since January that he's the keeper Klopp wants and yesterday's only going to have reinforced that. I really feel for Karius - god knows what he's going through now and us signing a replacement will only knock him further but we need to be ruthless and make a change. It should be said that the Alisson deal is far from a certainty - they're reportedly asking for over £60m and given how the Salah deal ended up, it's going to be hard to negotiate with them. The only hope we have is their money problems but their CL run has helped them with that.

TBH at his age Karius will be off, Alisson would be great not sure if that would leave Migs as reserve as I can't imagine Butland would want to sit on bench

having said that it's quite possibly an easy story for the press to come up with today

Mignolet's gone. He's made no secret of the fact he wants to be a starter and would find a half decent club a lot easier than Karius. For all the **** he gets, he's not a bad keeper, just not good enough for us and more specifically not suited to our style of play. Karius needs a fresh start somewhere but it's difficult to see where he goes - maybe a move back to Germany? Signing Alisson could easily see us signing two keepers this summer - Klopp clearly doesn't rate Ward to be his number two (no idea why we've kept him as 3rd choice when we could have shifted him for a decent sum last summer) and there's no chance we're spending £20m+ on somebody like Butland as cover, even if he could be persuaded. There's been some loose rumours linking us with Buffon and previously with Casillas (he's signed a new deal now), which Klopp almost encouraged after we knocked Porto out of the CL - I wonder whether we'd look to go for somebody in that mould if we do sign Alisson.

As for he timing on the reports. You're right it is an easy story but he is a player we've been strongly linked with since January and even Roma's president mentioned that we're trying/tried to sign him. Also when all the Liverpool based journo's are writing the same thing, it's fair to say that they been briefed this by somebody.

Blind and Darmian were both pretty cheap from what I recall (under £15m each) - and early reports are that for Darmian we should get 12m (varying between euros & £ depending on which article), either way its a good proportion back and still pretty cheap in today's market. Blind should also be pretty easy to get rid of for the same kind of money - maybe even a little more.

While its very strange what JM has done with Bailly , everyone can see he is a decent player so he should stick around (or at least there should be others infront of him out the door) . I don't think Lindeloff is a write off by any means but does need a lot of experience - a year loan to a mid level EPL team wouldn't be a bad idea, but might be worth keeping him along with F-M as back up. Rojo is anyone's guess, seemingly a JM favourite before his cruciate injury but never looked that good. If Utd wanted to we should be able to get decent money back on him £20m+ given he is only 28 and should be able to play for another 3 - 4 years at least at mid EPL or in Europe depending on his recovery of course). New contract earlier this year may price him out of a move of course. He Should have recovered by now, but when he has played has looked even dodgier than usual.

If you include Keita in last season's transfers we still didn't spend much more than £20m. If the players Klopp wants are available then I can see us spending £150-200m (depending what we can raise from Mignolet, Origi etc) this summer excluding Keita.
