Summer Transfer Thread 24/25

- Ugarte - fairly established and a good level of experience, a proper aggressive mobile ball winner, a fairly safe bet I would say. Still, £40m+ for a player PSG didn't really want - but I think he'll be good.
I think Ugarte will do really well in the EPL, I'm certainly happy that he wont be facing us tomorrow

Sancho's move to Chelsea has finally been confirmed. Simon Stone reporting the future fee of £20m to £25m is dependent on where Chelsea finish this season (no mention of the obligation to buy being dependent on anything though) and that Utd are subsidising some of his wage.

Don’t see how that’s gonna revive his career at all. There squads all over place doubt he is gonna be a set starter either

He needs to go back to Dortmund perhaps or even take a drop in level club wise and get back to basics so to speak

Yeah, Sancho would have been better at a West Ham, Villa or Newcastle and playing week in week out.

Arsenal have shipped out a lot of fringe players, but with the new cl format I think they might struggle with fitness. Although selfish, it would have been nice to keep smith-rowe.

Well this didnt age well. Doesnt seem like Ramsdale has made much difference in shipping goals
We would have been humiliated without him yesterday, the issue is fannying around with the ball at the back and coughing it up to a fast press in dangerous areas. Two of the three goals yesterday were a direct result of over playing at the back. We also desperately need a finisher at the other end Armstrong can’t keep missing guilt edged opportunities at this level.

It's two extra group stage matches, but FA cup replays have been scrapped so the actual max potential number of matches has fallen this season.

A big timebomb issue has been the fact Saka plays a LOT, he very rarely gets rested and often is brought back pretty quick from injury. I'm thinking that's one reason Sterling has come in to give a bit more rotation potential in the forward line. Trossard/Martinelli, Havertz/Jesus, Saka/Sterling (various combinations thereof). Basically I don't think Arteta 'trusts' (maybe not the right word) the likes of ESR, Nelson, Vieira etc enough, in terms of being able to stand in effectively. We need to be in a position where we can be going into a Premier League match with Saka on the bench rather than keep playing him in the 'red zone' against middling teams.

In terms of Sterling as a player, my issue with him has always been that never gives me confidence in front of goal, he'll run through and then fluff chances. I think overall I'm happy to get him on reduced wage loan, perhaps Arteta has ideas on how to get the best out of him. Don't forget he was born in 1994 so probably not a great long-term purchase as his performances should be on the decline, a loan could be the smart move.

Some have suggested Arsenal should've been in for Toney, I think £40m would be fine as a transfer fee but he's getting paid £327k/week plus bonuses, I can't see Arsenal authorising that.
