**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

stoke seemed to do some good buisness, getting quite impressed with TP.

Wish our fans got behind players aswel, Kitsons return to form never would have been without fan support imho. We had the best striker in League one (Constantine) and he left because of the boo boy idiots.

Yep. I've quite enjoyed this window, contrary to everyone else it seems. :D

Constantine was a great player, was pretty prolific for you guys. Shame about the injuries since then.

You do realise that Portmouth team won the FA cup not too long ago right?

That Portsmouth team were average at best and played no-one in the competition except an off colour Man.U. and they bluffed their way through that game.

Cardiff 0 - 1 Portsmouth
WBA 0 - 1 Portsmouth
Man.U. 0 - 1 Portsmouth
PNE 0 - 1 Portsmouth
Portsmouth 2 - 1 Plymouth
Ipswich 0 - 1 Portsmouth

The final line up was:
James, Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Hreidarsson, Utaka (Nugent 69), Pedro Mendes (Diop 78), Diarra, Muntari, Kranjcar, Kanu (Baros 87).

There's only James, Hreidarsson, Utaka, Nugent & Kanu left now anyway.

Did you get Distin too?

Errrr who? ;)

I'm really happy with the signings but the thing that annoys me the most is that it shows we have zilch cash. If we hadn't have sold Lescott we wouldn't have signed anyone, if we had cash we would have done this during the first few weeks not the last bloody week.

The sad thing is that this will probably happen next year, but we will be selling Rodwell or some one like that.

Suspect its the Sun thats wrong as that 2007 figure for Utd looks quite a bit higher than the amounts paid for OH, Nani and Anderson (who where the only players we bought in that summer)

(obvious suspect for being wrong too lol)

It really has been a boring summer when one club hold up the annual spend practically on their own ;)

Imaging if Citeh hadn't gone crazy. Would have been miles down on last year.

They're not the quality we need :(

MW

Kranjcar and Crouch are both quality additions, that add something different.

In Kranjcar we had a versatile attacking midfielder who can hold the ball up as well as having an awesome long shot ability, he will slot straight into the void on the left that Modric's injury has produced.

Crouch will always get goals, he may not be the strongest or fastest striker. His technique is pretty good and for all the bleating about him not winning headers he seems to score a fair few with his head!

If you think back when we challenged Arsenal for 4th and compare their quality to Rasiak and Danny Murphy I am more than happy!

Wasn't there some weird thing that for some unknown reason Utd paid for OH the year after they got him, or they included his fee(25mil was it?) in the following summers transfer window? I remember it because, well, it seemed bizarre to say the least but I can't remember the reason. Is it possible that one of those papers is adding 25mil to the wrong year basically, pumping up last years stats while dropping the others?

Either way, the only real reason spending went down at all is because foreign players get more money staying in Spain. If we had a 25% tax rate, Villa, Silva and a few others would probably have made their way over here. But if Villa is on say 100k a week now, he'd need to be on what, 130-140k a week to get the same take home pay as here.

Whats with the Dunne deal aswell, its being held up due the massive amount of paperwork at the FA this transfer window? what paperwork, very few people moved.

I just simply cant believe that this guy still thinks he has been hard done by. He has some cheek. He's been given opportunity after opportunity and has consistantly done nothing with those opportunities, yet he is still adamant that its not him.
Yeah agreed.

I get the impression with Babel that he's disillusioned and well, quite thick. He simply hasn't got a brain thats capable of common sense and lacks self-awareness.

He maybe fit, fast and able to do certain things with the ball, but he's incapable of playing a team role or being able to adapt to the changing situation on the field. A headless chicken is the perfect description of Babel and I want him out the club.
