i admire your optimism. i'd say city are stronger than united and both have new managers.
They had a strong team last year too but still didn't get more points.

Zaha, Young and Kagawa will be rather good this season so I don't think we need our midfield strengthening. I do want Vertonghen and Bale at United though, I say get Vertonghen before RM hound him next year.

Just got back from the emirates.

Will post some pics later

edit: here is one to start the ball rolling

So we've got Spurs' secretary and Newcastle's CEO on this forum.
Nope plenty plonkers tho.....

The info is pretty public.
All our players are for sale but at a price.
Our finances are extremely healthy so there is no need to sell.

Cabaye is Ashley's fav player also.

I have no doubt if an offer of 20+ comes in he would be sold.

As someone said, Gerv is deffo off to Roma, looks like the giraffe (Chamakh) is off to Palace. It's funny/sad that we've finally, in one fell swoop, cleared out a load of deadwood, yet have got nobody in yet. Apparently Bendtner is still in limbo as well, which is lol because TGSE was 100% convinced some big club would want him. What a plank.

Bendtner isn't fit enough to to pass a medical anywhere, it seem so selling him may be hard. Glad to hear wengers off loading the flops though. Now he's just got to buy some decent players...

Even if he spends little on a proven goal scorer like Darren Bent, would be better than what he has done previously.

I've never really opposed it to be fair but he would be a squad player I think and rotated quite a lot and you can't pay £22 million for a squad player. His elbows would see him off in a fair few CL games as well.

We would play him as a DM anyway and that's pretty much sewn up by Carrick..

He's no DM that's for sure. He is average at best. He plays one great game against United and he's a superstar all of a sudden in the medias eyes. On my son's life If we got our money back on what we paid for him I'd feel we had done well. 8 good games per year absolute tops.

I know plenty of Everton fans gutted when we sold Arteta, Cahill practically retired, Lescock went to City, Ferguson went to Newcastle, Speed moved to Newcastle, Rooney went to united, Pienaar went to Spurs but I know no one who even cares if Fellaini moves on. Let alone get 20M for him.

Even at his very best I'd rather have Cahill or Arteta towards the end of their careers than him in his prime. Hell Phil Neville was a better and more consistent performer than that big gimp and you sold him on years ago.

:)

Double dose of crazy there! :o

I also wanted AVB as our manager, he's young, he's got an eye for great players and he'd be here in the long run like SAF lol :p

1998–1999 British Virgin Islands
2009–2010 Academica
2010–2011 Porto
2011–2012 Chelsea
2012–PRES Spurs

The longest he's managed any club is Tottenham, where he's been for one full season and going into his second, so I'm not entirely sure on what basis you believe he'd "be here for the long run" if he were to be Man Utd manager.

'Angry and confused' all over again:

Sky sources report that Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is "unhappy and disappointed" about comments made by the club's manager Andre Villas Boas.

Real Madrid have made it clear that they are keen to sign the Welshman and are believed to be willing to pay what would be a world record transfer fee.

However, Villas-Boas said after Saturday's friendly defeat to Monaco: "These rumours of an imminent transfer are not true.

"The only thing we have communicated with Real Madrid is that he is our player and he is not for sale."

Bale has not made yet made his feelings public but Sky Sports reporter Amy Lewis said: "I've been speaking to a source close to Gareth Bale, who says that Bale is both unhappy and disappointed by the comments his manager made in that interview. In particular, that he is not for sale.

"Gareth Bale missed the match with Monaco yesterday because of a foot injury and I've been told it's unlikely he'll take part in training next week.

"A lot has been said about how much Madrid would be willing to pay for Bale. I've simply been told it's a world record fee, so upwards of £80m.

"It's not clear whether Bale will put in a transfer request but the source is still pretty confident that the player will be moving to Real Madrid. Nothing is imminent though."

aaah so it's a foot injury now

sky sports are getting as bad as espn

lots of people now swinging towards bale staying. i expect it to be resolved this week either which way.

personally, i'd sell. get lamela and maybe pjanic with the cash. we're also linked with chiriches, sakho and rolando for a caulker replacement.

Darren Bent would be a good buy IMO, he can be had for £6m supposedly and would be on similar money to Gervinho/Chamakh at worst.

As for the comment about about clearing out deadwood but not buying anyone that doesn't actually bother me in itself because there is no point offloading mediocre players and just bringing in more of the same. If the deadwood is genuine deadwood then it doesn't really need replacing anyway as youth prospects can fill the gap.

e.g. when it comes to forwards the first choice line appears to be Podolski/Giroud/Walcott so if players like Chamakh/Gervinho/Bendtner were to leave then it doesn't harm the first XI; if they are replaced they need to be replaced by good players who can offer a realistic challenge for the matchday squad.

Essentially Arsenal's squad had got too big in terms of people picking up £40k/week+ and having been at the club for a fair while but never really establishing themselves in the team. The exodus this summer is largely just a long overdue cull and the fact you see such players (in their 20s, been at a the club for a couple of years at least etc) going out on loan is usually a bad sign as it isn't a case of a teenager gaining some experience, it means the club has too many players, can't find a role for some of them and just wants a contribution towards their wages.

But what happens when Podolski/Giroud/Walcott get injured or suspended? We have no one...

What about if we need to try something different(Yeah I hear myself suggesting that :p) and we dont have different players to put on?

We need more players, we have a good core of players who really started to come together towards the end of the season. We kept those we wanted but we needed to add three or four players to that squad.

We are relying upon people like rosicky, diaby, wilshere to stay fit all season or we are screwed.
