Rodgers response to Suarez questions:

The manager replied: "My conversations with players will always remain private. I'll never disclose any conversation between a player and I.

"In terms of the remarks that were made, this is a football club that has always worked a certain way. The Liverpool Way is all about a club with ambition, a club that strives to be the very best, a club that is about commitment - that means that everyone is committed to the cause of fighting for the shirt.

"It's also about dignity and being dignified in how you speak about the club, on and off the field, and it's about unity.

"Those are the four values that run through my mind when I think about Liverpool. Those are the values we will always retain. If anyone steps outside of that standard, I will deal with it. That's something that we'll do.

"It means that we have a standard at Liverpool that I will fight for my life to retain. There will never be any player or person bigger than the club."

Rodgers continued: "Professionally, Luis Suarez has given me everything since I came into the football club, but there is obviously a way in which you have to speak. This is a club that has offered Luis Suarez the utmost respect since the day he walked through the door.

"That's something that over the course of the coming weeks you need to have when you work for Liverpool Football Club. You've got supporters and players that have given Luis Suarez absolutely everything - they backed him to the hilt.

"Even at the weekend, when we had Steven Gerrard's testimonial game, the supporters raised the roof for him. That's something that I will always fight to retain at the football club, because that is what Liverpool is about - respect, humility and real dignity."

Guardian saying Moyes is preparing a £30m bid for... Fellaini AND Baines...

Hahahahahahaha

£35m will be nearer what I would expect the club to accept, £20 and £15m and I will be over the moon. It will be hard not to laugh until christmas. They should make it £35m and a penny and take hibbert too!

Fellaini would be just another target for RVP's super crosses, that'll be interesting with Vidic, Ferdinand AND Fellaini in the box!

Baines though - want want want!

Rodgers has vowed to take “strong and decisive action” against Suarez following his outspoken attack on the club.

“There were no promises made - categorically none - and no promises broken,” Rodgers said.

“The club and his representatives had several conversations and he knew exactly where he was at.

"I think Luis knows the support he's had at the football club and that's something that's been unswerving throughout the whole of last season.

“Obviously the remarks I've read are bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that.

“My job is to fight and protect the club. The conversations I've had with him, he knows I've had and they will remain private.

“I will take strong, decisive action, absolutely. There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a lack of respect of a club that has given him everything. Absolutely everything.

“I really, really feel sorry for the supporters, people that have sung his name. We have travelled the world over the course of this pre-season. 85,00 fans were singing Luis' name in Jakarta. It was the same in Australia, in Thailand and at Steven Gerrard's testimonial.

“I don't believe there is a clause in his contract that says he can leave for any sort of price.”

And:
But the manager admits Suarez could only play for Liverpool again if he apologies to the supporters for his conduct.

Asked if there was a way back for the Uruguayan, he said: “We first of all need to assess where it's at. At this moment things have been said that are derogatory against the football club and his
team-mates and the supporters.

“There's a few bridges to cross before that can happen (play for Liverpool again). It's about the respect, that's the only thing we look for.

“This is one of the most iconic football clubs in the world, you can't disrespect it. That's something I will ensure (an apology) before anything happens in the future. That bridge will need to
be crossed.

"I understand that every coach and every player wants to work at the highest level. I understand his ambition, but this is a club that is historically been one of the very best in the world. We can get right back up there and fight to be there.

"What we are trying to do is get the correct value for a player. The reality is we don't want to sell Luis Suarez, it's as simple as that.

“He is important for what we are trying to do. There have been a couple of offers but no promises broken - that's the reality.”

I think that's too much for them both , but then again, I think that most transfers are too expensive :p.

No your quite right, it would be better to lose him next year for probably less money. Oh, and I'm sure that he will be on his bestest behaviour this season after he has served the rest of his ban and after he has had a nice public falling out with the club. That sounds like a much better scenario. Its not like he was still a nightmare when the club backed him and he was happy at Liverpool.

If you had decided to get rid of him at the start of the window you might have found it easier to get a buyer from abroad.

You're right, it would be better to sell him next year for less, if the buying side isn't Arsenal. I've said time and again that if Suarez ends up staying with us I'm not concerned about his commitment on the pitch. Once there is no hope of a move he'll soon (well when his ban is finished) be back to himself and as anybody that's seen him train or even his performances in the pre-season games this summer (despite him being upset with the club), he only knows how to play one way.

There is no sense whatsoever in selling Suarez to Arsenal unless they make a huge offer. They're the single worst team for us to sell to so despite it being far from ideal to have an unhappy player, it's still better to have him than Arsenal to have him

I think its fairly safe to say he's not going to Arsenal for any money at this rate.

I wouldn't bet against it, perhaps Liverpool would take an even lower offer from a European club if this gets even uglier. I'm sure a few might be interested if his price was lowered.

I actually would bet against it.

Arsenal are only interested because they thought they could get him on the cheap. Now that is removed, I cant see them coming back in and meeting our valuation.
