I realise how the media can work - the fact they're not always completely objective and assess everything fairly - but I still think it's a safer bet to trust them with that, rather than to trust the word of an individual lay person. Just the fact it's a far bigger sample to get an aggregate opinion of means it massively outweighs a random person's view, imo...

random person?

the commentator stated it in several of their matches

That's the thing, I was listening to a podcast earlier and a few of the guys in the studio were saying how frustrating it would be if we actually splashed out on Cabaye when that sort of position/role is exactly the opposite of what we really need right now. If we're signing a midfielder then Gustavo would have been absolutely perfect for us in my opinion. I wish we signed Van Bommel on a free last year when his Milan contract expired, we could have done with someone like him in the middle. :(

Maybe Wenger is thinking he can play Cabaye as a DM:p...he does this time and time again with players, plays them out of position thinking they will do well when really it doesnt.

So it turns out we didn't even have a bid accepted by Anzi then, think Spurs have paid too much for Willan (if he moves). Seems we are doing an Arsenal in bidding for players but not bidding enough...yay

He's a central attacking player, so expect him to be shoved wide left with Podolski benched after a previous great season ;)

Yes i know lol, i was just saying that because we so desperately need a DM...dont think Arteta really suits that position that Wenger will try and convert Cabaye to a DM...thats if we get him.

Pretty much like us and Utd too:p

LOL Wenger giving a press conference on SSN and is losing his rag at the journo's asking about his business or lack of it during the summer:p

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Cissokho's loan move is now official:

It'll be disappointing if Willian ends up at Spurs, more so because they've got him rather than we haven't. Like I said when the Mkhitaryan deal didn't happen, it would have been nice to have that extra attacking player but it's far from a necessity. The one area we're not lacking is creative, attacking players - there's a far bigger need for a CB and a DM imo. Spurs on the other hand are lacking creativity without Bale, which they'll surely be if they're signing Willian.

how many players spurs bought this window?

Too many for my liking:p...off the top of my head Paulinho, Soldado and Chadli. Probably a couple of more but cant remember.

Meulensteen leaves Anzhi after 16 days:eek:, didnt last very long. Wonder what happened there.

If we sign Willian and Lamela and then lose Bale, I think that will be a cracking piece of business. We will have signed 2 replacement players who are much better than the rest of our attacking players in the squad in order to replace Bale. We will have also pretty much paid for the new training ground that we built last season.

I can't imagine us being able to pull that off though. I think it will be Willian in, Bale out (I also think Lamela would be preferable to Willian)

Add Capoue to the list and that's our Summer spending thus far. If that was the situation and th window closed tomorrow then I would be an extremely happy man (assuming a deal hasn't already gone through for Bale without anyone knowing) looking at the squad we have.

Word o the grapewine is that Flamini is currently training at Arsenal after not renewing his contract with Milan. Probably all ********

Can't say I've followed him since leaving but we should never have let him go. Could have tied him to a long term contract but wenger was penny pushing again and he left.

Would be a good signing and even better if he was free :p

Not sure if I want us to win or lose tomorrow. We have left it too late to buy quality now. Who is going to sell now the season has started?

Not sure about michu either. Would have felt better if he had two good seasons under his belt.

First leg of cl tomorrow and I'm not at all bothered about watching it.

+1:D

Also hearing that Ox will be out for at least 6 weeks rather than 6mths as first feared.

Uh oh, its Arsenal, seemingly minor injury gets said to be really bad, then magically it becomes much less severe and when he's supposed to be back we get the

"opps, we actually got it a little wrong, and because of our mistake the original 6 months, which was correct, has now become 10 years... but don't worry, we'll keep giving him new contracts while he doesn't play so he'll be like a new signing, in 2024"
