I don't really see how its make or break for Spurs, I've seen this mentioned a few times. They have sold their best player for ~£100m and used the money to strengthen across the board. Its not like they're spending money they dont have or wont have by the end of the window. Its sustainable spending. Its not like they'll be spending another £50m in Jan followed by a further £100m next summer and racking up huge debts.

Its not in monetary terms though really, like you say, it's all funded. it's make or break just in terms of team momentum.

Again though, they've not bought short term prospects. Its a young team and its got time and they can continue to grow the team now just through normal spending. They're in a very good position, but if anything I think this season might be a bit soon with all the players coming in near the end of the window.

De Rossi for £10 million would be a bargain for any team, regardless of his age.

Plenty of manager's have spent more on player's that couldn't tie his shoe laces.

Plus 30 is hardly old these day's now for a midfielder, where pace isn't as important, as pirlo, zanetti, giggs and scholes have proved.

I completely agree, your prospects over the next 5 years are outstanding, Bale really has made your wish come true.

I don't think you can have this mentality though as a squad, they want to win the premiership, that's the goal for AVB surely.

I don't know why no has taken a gamble on him, he's an absolute breeze block in the middle of the field, can play too. There has been rumblings for ages that he wants to come to the PL, £10/14m would be a good deal i think for top 6 side.

Kaka to Arsenal anyone?

Spurs just basically bought a brand new team:p...good signing Lamela is and also Erikson if he comes. £100mill spent by Spurs now, pretty crazy summer for them.

Meanwhile over at the Emirates, all you can see is tumbleweeds:D

Dont forget Utd, have they signed anyone yet? :p

Baines has travelled to Cardiff, Fellaini didn't want to initially but has decided to. Looks like it'll be done last minute.

SIGN SOMEBODY, WENGER! :(

He already has Kill, Sanogo and Flamini:D...2 signings with zero spent on them other than wages. Its now the Arsenal way of doing business, spending nothing and getting in players for nothing:p.

Another year of mediocrity is looming for us with Wenger saying he believes in the squad, the squad has quality and last but not least, this squad is good enough to challenge for the PL title:p and win trophies :/

Weren't Man City after him a summer or two ago? Roma were asking around £30m for him then, but he didn't want to leave anyway.

Everyone but Wenger, probably.

According to SSN, they have spent £2.4mill on someone:p.

Utd have a decent enough squad, they have a team that will compete for the PL title and trophies. Had Fergie stuck around, id put them as faves to win the PL title but with Moyes they may challenge for it but i dont know if they will win the title again.

Compared to Arsenal??, with the amount of injuries we have at the moment and how easily they get injured...we aint got a chance in hell. Then there is Giroud, who i find so impossibly fustrating at times...just isnt clinical enough and this season he needs to score more goals.

Simple fact is that we havent got a squad to compete for trophies or PL title at the moment unless City, Chelsea and Utd start dropping points and somehow we get on a stupidly good run to overtake them. Chances of that happening are virtually nil barring a huge divine miracle.

Kaka wants to leave but i think he wants to go back to AC Milan rather than any other team, wouldnt be surprised come Monday if he does go back to AC. Again hes a player we dont need and hes past it now, hes 31 yrs old and is injury prone...he wouldnt be able to last a few days in the PL let alone the season:p

I wouldn't have put us as favourite to win the title with Fergie in charge still with our current squad. As always we have a lot of depth but not as much strength as our opposition. Over the course of a season that depth is invaluable but other teams have both now as well.
